Does anyone
have a round toit? We left out about
8:30 to pick up Kelly. She had
volunteered to go with us to Sonsonate to locate a cake decorating store. Our ladies’ theme centered on Hannah and the
birth of Samuel. So, we were going with
a ‘baby shower’ décor and I was looking for some white chocolate for some
baking. It was a great time to get to be
with her as well. She found the shop
right off so we made good progress. Next
we went to Dollar City and Dwaine headed to Vidri. We had bought a mixer at Vidri and it quit
after its first use. We had a receipt
with return policy so Dwaine was going to try to get this done quickly. Well……not so fast. They wanted to send the mixer off to San
Salvador first to find out what the problem was before any refunds or
exchanges. Dwaine explained that my
baking was today, and we needed a replacement.
Finally, they let him ‘upgrade’ (sounds like a phone) to the next higher
model, $6 more if he would pay the difference.
He said yes, and left with a Black and Decker model. I hope it holds up for our Black and Decker
blender got less than 10 uses out of it before it died. He also went to a pharmacy and found some
more Synthroid for me so that I will have plenty when we go and come from the
States. It is amazing that you don’t
need a prescription. He got a 4 month
supply for about $40 and in the States I think I would pay $90 for a 3 month
supply plus doctor visit to get the prescription. Well, anyway, I am set for a while. We made one last stop at Selectos and headed
out. Kelly saw Jose’s sister walking on the side
of the road and she said that she lives in Ahuachapán, so she drove back to
Juayua with us to catch a closer bus. We
also drove through Kelly’s home town to pick up one gift for our return. It was about a 15 minute detour tops. We arrived home about 12:30ish. After
lunch Seyli and I had a study with Alba. We had a good study, almost two hours and she
had lots of questions. We had stopped
the day before for an invitation and she had mentioned pupusas. So, after the study, she wanted us to stay
for pupusas and coffee. I guess I didn’t
realize she was planning the pupusas after the study. Alas for communication. We all laughed. She still had a little work
to do, so we left to get a few final items for the ladies’ event and pick up
the men folk. We got back after about 45
minutes. I had planned to use the evening to
work on cooking and décor for the 10 A.M. event, but that would have to wait a
few. We did enjoy the time together and
she had one type of pupusas that I didn’t know and we could not figure out a
translation. I will have to work on that
one. We got home about 6 and I jumped
into cooking. After about 10 minutes,
Cesar and Elisa arrived for a short visit.
Elisa had been in San Salvador between one and two weeks and she had a
few questions on the ladies’ class. I
think I finally settled down to work about 7.
Dwaine helped a lot, but I still didn’t make it to bed until 3 A.M. In college I can remember someone gave me a
wooden coin that had ‘Toit’ written on it and of course it was round. I needed one of those on Friday so I could
get “a round to it.”
