We're back. I may have used
this one before but it certainly applies again.
On March 11th we arrived back in Huntsville for a two week
visit with our families and brothers and sisters at Central. We had a good flight and going through
customs in Atlanta was much better than in Houston last time. We did have to wait in the airport about 4
hrs. for our connecting flight to HSV.
We got into the airport about 10 pm and our family as well as some
brothers and sisters were waiting to welcome us, including little Charlotte who
was not too excited about having been taken from her bed. Saturday we spent the day with our family at
our house and Sunday I got to give a report on the work here since our last
visit. We spent the first week in
Huntsville and got to have little Charlotte all week as we helped out Caleb and
Della she had some surgery. She made a
good recovery and we were glad we got to help as well as getting to spend lots
of time with Charlotte. We did take a
couple of family day trips the first week.
Then Charlotte and I went to Mississippi the second week to visit her
Aunt Nell. She is 88 and having lots of
health issues so we would appreciate your prayers for her. On the way there we got to have lunch in
B'ham with my brother and sister and their spouses. They are all doing well and we enjoyed our
time with them. We ended up our visit on
Sunday by Charlotte and me cooking pupusas for all the family at Caleb and
Della's house. The only real blemish on
our time back was that I brought back a cold I had caught here in El Sal and
passed it on to almost the entire family.
We had a good flight back here on Monday Mar. 28th. And, even
though Charlotte was pretty sick for our return we made it through. We arrived about noon and Carlos was waiting
for us as soon as we got outside the airport.
We had one bad event which was that the backpack with the computers fell
over once and I discovered after we got here that my screen got broken. Fortunately while we were there I had bought
an adapter to be able to connect it to the large monitor we had bought from our
landlady a few months ago and with that it still works fine I just have a desk
computer now instead of a laptop however we also still have Charlotte's laptop
when we need to use one outside the house.
The funny event was that the officer at the first desk where we
re-entered kept our customs form and so when we got to the customs desk we did
not have one and had to fill out another.
Then they did not ask us to press the button for the light to see if we
had to be checked but just waved us on through after glancing at our form. We lunched at Wendy's in San Sal. And then
arrived home about 4:30 after a smooth flight and drive and dropping Carlos off
at his house in Salcoatitan on our way back.
Charlotte had said she was going to bed as soon as we got home but true
to form she ended up unpacking every single bag and then staying up till after
10 pm. We did have a visit from Sister
Regina, Arnoldo and Elizabeth about 6 pm.
They were doing good and just wanted to make sure we had gotten
back. We stopped by Cesar's door for a
moment to get a key to our garage and he had a cold also. On Tuesday we met with our leader's group
from Salcoatitan and Juayua. We did pass
out some invitations in the afternoon for the ladies event that is this
Saturday here in Juayua. Then we rested
some and got ready for Don Santos, Sonja and Jimmy to arrive for their weekly
study. About 5:50 we thought they had
arrived early as someone knocked on our garage door but it was Jose, Kelly,
Kiki and Nicole. We were so glad to see
them and they were happy to see us. We
told them we were planning to come by on Wed. morning but they said they could
not wait to get to see us again so that was great. We worked out that we would get together at
our house for a study on Friday morning at 8 since that slot was not filled yet. We had a good but short visit and right
after they left Don Santos and family arrived.
We visited over cookies that Charlotte had made time to cook despite her
sickness and tiredness. Then we had a
good study on why people should not wait to become Christians once they
understand the gospel and they said they would be at the midweek services on
Wednesday night. We certainly enjoyed
our time with our loved ones and getting to see so many of you at Central but we
are also glad to be back and be getting back in contact with our brothers and
sisters and friends here.
