Wow! Up
and running at 5:30 to meet some deadlines. The day looked like it would pace pretty good
until I could not find cherries to top the banana splits. How can one serve banana splits without
cherries? So I decided I had enough time
to make chocolate covered strawberries for the ladies event. Dwaine went to the market to pick up the
strawberries. The process really went
smoothly. The craft, a sachet bag, was ready for filling, sewing closed and
decorating. Dwaine went to the building
to be sure that all was ready for the event.
About noon, everything looked ready, so we ate lunch and rested about 30
minutes. Afterwards, we headed to the
building and everything was ready.
Dwaine left to pick up Sister Ana and her daughters. About 2:30 people started arriving and they
just kept coming and kept coming. It was
amazing. In the end the best we could
figure was that visitors and now bringing their own visitors. We had a total of 55 people in the
building. That was 27 lady visitors, 12
sisters, 12 children, 3 men helpers and 1 man visitor. That’s the wow! It was an exciting afternoon, but there were
a few noteworthy things. The first and
most important, two young ladies during the afternoon, said that they would be
glad to study! That is the best
news. One that was funny is our new
Sister Kelly helped to serve and then, in the end we just barely ran out of
craft items. One person wasn’t able to
make the sachet and it was Kelly. We
just kidded her that was the price of now being in the body. She just laughed. What a blessing she is, she brought two
visitors! One that was amazing to me was
one visitor, Luz de Leon. One day we
were walking to a study and she pulled up in a car to ask if we had found a
place to rent for the church. We
actually could not remember talking with her, but we visited for several
minutes and I invited her to the event.
She came! That was so
exciting! We always do prayer requests
and she shared many things in her life.
We will continue to keep in contact with her. Linda did our lesson on Dorcas and what is
our legacy. Of course she did a great
job. Dwaine helped a lot with serving,
but he spend a lot of the afternoon visiting with Mario. He had come with Sara. Mario is the man who had broken his leg close
to the time the campaigners came last summer.
We were exhausted when the day was done.
When we got home, we did go out one more time. Socorro’s sister was visiting from the States
and we really wanted to meet her. So we
went by her hostel and visited for about 30 or 40 minutes. She will be here for about two weeks. It was definitely a ‘wow’ day.
