We did it
all!!! We left at 7:30 this morning to
go by the small book store in Ataco on our way out of town. Charlotte wanted to get some children’s class
stuff copied so she could cut them out on the way to San Salvador. We got to Cesar’s about 8:10 and he was ready
to go in about 5 minutes. We made good
time and got to immigration by 10:00. We
were told yesterday that Charlotte’s visa was still not ready and that we would
need to get her another extension and pick up my visa which had been ready
about 2 weeks. The lady at the entrance
desk said we could not get another extension because we had already had
one. She said the visa should be ready
but we needed to ask at the desk in back where they are issued. He checked and said it was ready but would
have to be brought over from another place and that should only take about 20
minutes. It was more like an hour but we
left with both our new one year visas in hand.
Mine was dated for June10th and Charlotte’s for July 13th. We are not sure what that will mean next year
but we will have to apply for my renewal May 10th. One month before
expiration and at that time we will ask if we can do both together or not. After lunch at Burger King we went on to
Santa Ana to pick up the title transfer on the car. It was all ready and we now have the car
officially in our name. Cesar has his
birthday this month and you have to get your tag renewed in the month of your birthday
so he was able to go ahead and do that and save another trip for him to Santa
Ana. We were glad that worked out. When we got back to Juayua, we were really
tired but we decided to go for it, so we went by the Juayua Credit Union and
opened a bank account because we needed to be able to verify to immigration our
financial situation when we do our renewal next year. Here you apparently can’t get a joint
account, it has to be in one person’s name and then others can be signers so
they can also use it. We opened the
account in Charlotte’s name and in the end I sure was glad because she had to
sign in about 25 places and to be able to also use the account I only had to
sign about five times. Anyway,
everything is taken care of before we leave for our visit back to the
states. We sure are thankful to have all
that done, especially the visas. We
thought we were all set at the end of Feb. when our papers were first accepted
and here we are finally getting them in hand 10 days before we come back for
our first visit home. We still had to
run by Selectos for a few items and we sure were tired when we finally got in the
door of our house but we are thankful for a successful and safe day.
