Downer day. I had not felt
good or had much appetite at all for the last few days. At Santa Katarina I had to apologize to the
sisters who brought us lunch because I just did not feel like eating. During the night it finally hit me big
time. I decided that I should just go
upstairs and use that bathroom and try to rest what I could on the futon so
that I would not bother Charlotte every time I had to get up. I sure did not rest well but by morning I was
feeling some better so I decided to try to make it on to Schucutitan. Charlotte was cooking for the young ladies as
usual and I tried to help as much with that as usual. Brother Hugo and his wife and three children
who were visiting with the Cortez family were there from Honduras. He is a preacher and he gave an excellent
sermon on who is Jesus. After the
service Hector, Carlos and Ricardo stood before the congregation to apologize. When Caleb was here the Ataco church had hired
Samuel Azucena to work in evangelism and generally for the church. Because he had been so valuable, when he left
the leaders (above) decided that he was so valuable that someone should take
his place. They decided on Edgardo among
the three of them but did not bring this before the church before hiring
him. Apparently, not 100% of the members
approved of that choice and there had been some grumbling that had continued to
grow. Anyway, they decided to correct
the problem by asking everyone to vote for or against Edgardo. He had to stand up front also during all this
and he looked so glum. He is such a
great brother, a hard worker and we think very highly of him. He has gone with us on various studies and
knows the Bible very well. He also has
dropped by our house various times and had us over to his and we enjoy visiting
with him and his family and he came by recently just to pray for and with us
about the work in Juayua. It was so sad
to see him under such stress. The vote
was 48 for and 3 against with the three leaders not voting. People were asked to sign their ballots so
the preachers said they would sit down with each of the 3 people who voted no
this week and listen to their side of the situation. Edgardo did appear to feel better after the
vote. Charlotte stayed after services to
have lunch and devotional with the teen girls.
I usually just wait for her and have some lunch also but I felt I had
been away from a bathroom as long as I could so I told her to call when she was
ready to be picked up. Paulo walked down
with me and I gave him a ride to the bus stop in Ataco where he caught a bus on
to Ahuachapan. We had rescheduled with
Nelson to study today at 3:45 but he never showed up at Regina's house which is
very unusual for him. He also almost
always comes to Sunday night services but did not come to that either. About 4:15 we decided to go by to see if the
lady who had been so helpful in looking for a house might be at her home. She was and we had a nice visit. We wanted to tell her we would be out of the
country until September 22 and would come by soon after that to see if she had
any new leads. She promised to work diligently
as that time approached. Then we went on
to check on our other possible visitors.
Mr. Rivas was not home though he had said Saturday that he would come
Sunday night and Julia had family visiting and could not come. We also stopped by Kelly and Jose but he was
working and she was just getting back from having corn ground to make
tortillas. Alas, such is life
sometimes. We did have Anita and her
daughter to visit and we were able to give them a ride home on the way out of
town. They were in the car and we were
waiting for Charlotte to come out and they both started talking about something
biting them and then she held up a 3 inch worm with some kind of stinger at one
end. At this rate tomorrow has a good
chance of being better.
A dad was riding a tiny with his son pedaling in front. Precious.
