Yeah, it happened! We had a new Christian study with Jose and
Kelly and Kiki and Nicole joined us.
They came at 8:30 to start a 40 day study…..although much of it is done
at home. It has been hard to get to meet
regularly since their baptism, but hopefully, this is the start of a regular
meeting. I must admit, I served a snack
of baked pancakes to try a recipe for the campaign group since we met so early. Afterwards, we took them home and walked to
Cecelia's. Teresa was there and sat in on
a good portion of the study. She had a
little preparation to get ready for work.
Cecelia's roosters wanted to fight, so she closed the door. It was really hot! Next, we went by to ask Miriam if she would
be able to come to a lunch on Sunday with her husband. She said this Sunday was not going to work,
but she invited us in and her daughter was there visiting. Her name was Claudia, the same as Dwaine’s
mom. The father of her son came by and it turned out, he had done some
electrical work for us in our former house.
We will continue working on the possibility of a study here. After lunch, I went on to pick up Seyli for a
study with Alba. Alba lives very close
to Seyli and plans to help her make pupuas for the ladies’ event on
Saturday. We did have a surprise in
store for us when we arrived. Alba said
that she wanted us to walk over to her sister’s, Angelia, and have a study with
her. We walked across the upper part of
the road because she lives one road over from Alba. However, it is a steep climb to both, so it was
great to take a back road. When we got to
the house, I knew I had stopped by several times to invite her to our ladies’
event. As our visit unfolded, it was
very interesting. Alba comes to some
events, but she regularly goes to the Assembly of God with her family. Then, we learned that Angelia’s husband,
William, goes regularly to the Restoration church where Wendy and Oscar
go. Oscar and William are brothers. I was a little surprised that Alba wanted to
make the connection for the study, because there were two strong ‘religious’
ties in her family. Later, talking with Alba,
I think that her sister does not have any interest in Christianity and she
hopes that we might spark an interest. So,
for Friday afternoons, we are going to Angelia’s. One good aspect of this will be that Alba
will hear some of the foundational studies again. For the night, we did not plan a meal because
I needed to cook bon bons and fudge for the ladies’ event. Eliza’s mom is going
to present our lesson and her future sister-in-law will do some interactive dynamics. Yoli, who used helps with our rifas, gifts,
is out, so I was cooking some treats for Mother’s Day. Eliza and her mom planned to bag them up Saturday morning. I did finish up about 9, so at least it was
not a late night.
