Busy, busy, busy…..Since Mrs. Azucena and
Rosalia are doing a portion of the ladies’ event for May, I was thinking that
this might be a lighter month. Seyli was
doing the bulk of the cooking and Kelly and Alba were helping her. Well…..I volunteered to help Yesenia and Ulma
with decorations. Yesenia is very
artistic and came up with a great idea of décor. The main setback, or should I say, obstacle
was that it involved 400 balloons! We
thought we should start at 9 for a 3 o’clock event. They arrived at 10, which was good for they
had to travel by bus from Apaneca. Alba
dropped her daughter by to help. Dwaine
also pitched in, so we had about 4 adults blowing balloons and 3 children. I must say, the kids held their own. One thing was funny. I had one pump I picked up here and I had an
old one I had brought from the States.
The one I bought here lasted through about 5 balloons and the one from
the States made it to the bitter end.
Although that last balloon may have ended its glory days. About noon, Dwaine and I ran home to bring lunch. I had some soup in one crock pot and some
rice and chicken in the other. The girls
came with us to take a break and play with Wicket. When we got back, Yesenia and Ulma had made a
lot of progress and only lacked the second room, as the ‘auditorium’ has a
slight division with a partial wall.
Finally, after another hour, Dwaine and I headed home one more time to
change. People started to arrive about 3
and everyone kept coming. We sure had a
house full, 30 visitors and about 15 sisters.
Wow! It just overwhelms me. I had been studying already with a good
number of the visitors and that they would make the effort to come is just overwhelming. There were only a couple of people I did not
know. Sometimes, now our visitors bring
visitors. I desperately need one or two
more days in the week. One lady came
that Kelly, our new sister invited. She
works at a store near our old house and she said she would go to the
Salcoatitan service on Sunday, as she worked during our Juayua times. Then, one lady that came, loss her husband
about two weeks ago and she made the effort to come. There were many blessings from the day. Mrs. Azucena gave a great presentation on
Proverbs 31 and the pupusas were a big hit.
The bon bon gifts worked out great too and the décor was perfect. Yesenia also made a parting special gift with
a verse and we planned a prayer session for Tuesday morning. During the meeting Dwaine took off to have a
study with Kiki. They are trying to go
through some of the English material that Central sent, but Dwaine said it was
very slow. Cesar taught the children a
class on the Good Samaritan as many moms bring their children. I must say, one of the biggest blessings of
the day was the arrival of Sister Ana.
When she got there, a daughter stood on each side of her and with their
help, she walked in. Some medicines that
she has been taking were helping some with her arthritis….an answer to prayer.
