May 10, 2015

Two-cake Day.  We started the day with skypes from Caleb and Della with some Little Charlotte time and then Christina called all to wish a happy Mother’s Day.  Then Charlotte read 2 Mother’s Day cards that Leanna had brought and got a little teary eyed so she was off to a good start.  We headed out to services at Shucutitian and it was strange for me because there was not the usual heavy cooler of food and drinks for me to carry for the teen girl’s devo.  They had postponed for Mother’s Day, which is always on the 10th in El Salvador.  Carlos did the sermon on Solomon and at one point the younger children came out and did a song about keeping your eyes, ears, feet and mouth from evil-it was great.  Carlos always does a great job but I did feel for him-it was really hot and he was pouring sweat the whole time he was preaching.  After the service all the ladies were asked to come to the front of the church.  Everyone was given a fold sheet of paper.  Then, each person had to swap with another person.  Five got a special message and had to go forward for a gift.  I got one of the gifts…two nice bowls and a cup.  It was a nice time.  Then, they went around and had the ladies say something about their marriage or children.  So, they asked me about how our marriage or 36 years.  I missed my chance.  Dwaine always says that we are in our honey moon and I should have said that!  Well, I talked about how he is always complimentary.  I’m not a good talker on the spotJ.  Anyway, they served cake to the mothers as well.  We went home for the afternoon and we skyped with my stepmom and dad.  Christina, Leanna and Clifton were there as well as my stepsister Debbie.  It was good to talk to everyone and spend the time with them.  It sounded like that had a big meal together and celebrated a nice Mother’s Day. We headed out to Juayua about 4.  We took roses for Sister Regina and Sister Eliza.  Cesar brought a cake to serve after the service.  Rosalidia came and her sister, Lidia, was in town from Ciudad Real to visit their mother, Josephina.  I talked with Lidia after the service and she was struggling with faithfulness to the Lord.  I studied with her for a little bit on this topic and then gave her the preacher’s number that works in Ciudad Real.  I pray they can make this connection.
