May 2, 2015

Saturday was the second day of the children’s camp.  We were told the kids got up about 5ish, but we arrived shortly after 7:00.  To get the kids energized, two of the sisters did some dynamic song leading.  The extra hand motions and jumping, helped them be wide awake.  Saturday was the big treasure day.  I had made some salt dough rocks with hidden clues and Rachel and Paolo had painted the rocks gold.  The kids found the hidden rocks and the clue lead them to a large, Spanish illustrated Bible for children.  It was a beautiful book and the kids were overjoyed for the treasure.  Rachel had worked hard to supply the Bibles and it was a joy to see them so excited.  A group of ladies had stayed the night too and had done a bounty of cooking for the children.  I know this will be a lasting memory for the children.  After the camp, we drove home for a short break.  In route, Dwaine got a phone call from Paolo.  There was a bad accident at the entrance of Ataco and it involved a red car. Since we all left about the same time, Paolo thought it was us.  A motorcycle must have rounded a curve at hide speeds.  The car was turning into Ataco.  The motorcycle must have hit at a high speed directly into the car.  It had a major 'V' dent into the front of the car.  The driver of the motorcycle must have gone airborne.  To date, we have not been able to learn if he survived.  Just as we were ready to head out to Juayua, we realized we were trapped in our home by a passing parade.  Ataco had elections for 'queen' and they celebrated with a parade.  First, we got the band.  The selection they played was no surprise since we live by the school.  We had heard them practicing all week. The trucks and cars were decorated with plants, flowers, balloons and of course, lovely ladies. The age range seem to be from about 5 years to teens.  It was a nice view from the balcony.  As soon as it passed, we headed out for Juayua for the Saturday class.  We had some attendance and enjoyed the study.
