May 15, 2015

I got to Sister Rosamiriam’s at 7 and she went with me around the block to the house of her daughter-in law and her mother.  We picked them up and then went back by to get Carlos.  He had walked down to Rosamiriam’s not knowing I had already passed by.  He said he was thinking I was late but I told him no he was and we laughed.  Then we headed out.  We had a smooth trip and got to the hospital about 9:45.  The area near the entrance was really narrow with cars everywhere and you could barely move at all.  We did manage to let the ladies out near the door and ease back out to the street.  They were going to call us when they got done.  We had nothing else to do so we headed to the big mall.  We got a bite of breakfast at Mister Donut and then walked around the mall for a long time.  I told Carlos that Charlotte was sort of wanting a dog and he said there were dogs in the street.  I said sure the street is full of them but we do not want one of those.  He laughed and said no he meant that dogs are sold in the street in a certain place near the mall.  So we walked over to the place and sure enough there were two small groups of people each with about 6 to 8 puppies of several different breeds.  One was quite a bit cheaper than the other and there were a couple of puppies that were really cute for around $50.   But we are going to wait at least until we move to Juayua and hopefully have at least a small yard.  Besides, Charlotte was not with me and I would not pick one out without her.  So we walked some more and then stopped for lunch at KFC.  It was my first KFC since leaving the states.  We got the Friday special which was a chicken sandwich, fries and a drink for $3.75.  It was not really big but it was really good.  As we were sitting and talking after we had finished eating the ladies called and said they were ready to be picked up.  When we got them they said only the mother was allowed to see the baby-neither of the grandmothers.  The baby had his oxygen cut off somehow during the birth process and the doctors were afraid there was permanent brain damage.  They would not tell the mother when the baby could go home.  The mother said they had named him Sebastian and he was full term but they said the prognosis is bad at this time.  We had a safe trip back and I got home about 3:30 and had a little time to rest before dinner.
