May 5, 2015

There was the fleeting idea that Tuesdays would be our day of rest.  Maybe next time.  We have the monthly preacher meeting this Friday and this time it is being held in Juayua so that everyone can get to see the new work we are starting there.  This mean that Charlotte (mostly) along with the help of Eliza and Regina are preparing lunch for about 25-30 people.  Charlotte is taking her poppy seed chicken, potato salad, cream cheese corn, 4 different kinds of fruit bread and peaches and cookies for desert.  The other ladies are doing a salad and providing drinks.  Charlotte had said she wanted to host it at our house some time so this will be for that.  I told Hector last Sat. that I was pretty sure the group would want to meet in Juayua every month after they got to experience Charlotte’s cooking.  He said he would certainly vote for that.  So we spent the day cooking for Friday since this is the only day we had open before Friday.  Charlotte did all the real cooking and I worked under direction, peeling eggs, shredding chicken, and washing tons of dishes.  I also made a run to Ahuachapan to get a few grocery items that are not available in Ataco or Juayua.  I took the bus because the stop in Ahuachapan is really close to Selectos.  It only took about 1 ½ hrs. including travel time and only cost .40 for the bus each way.  Late in the afternoon a brother dropped off a whiteboard he had made for us to use with the English classes.  Then we went to Zoila’s house for the Tuesday Bible study.  On the way up the road we saw a small dead coral snake.  We talked about Solomon and Carlos said “imagine having 700 wives and 300 concubines”. I said that was not possible to imagine.  I told the group that apparently Solomon lived by the old saying “how much is enough? Just a little more”.  We got home and got to skype with the kids and then Charlotte stayed up till 1:30 am getting ready for the children’ s class in Juayua on Wen. Night.  So much for a day of rest.

This group was all waiting of the bus for a ride, but, hey, the back of a truck works great!

Here it is for relative viewing.
