Rainy days and Sundays. It rained all night and then continued today. We
wanted to have Nelson and his family over for a meal. When we first invited him
he asked if that meant his whole family and we asked how many that was and he
said about 15. Because he works two jobs each day Monday through Friday and our
Saturday schedule is so full the only option was Sunday and since our service
here in Juayua is at 5 pm we decided to have them for lunch. So this morning
for the first time since we have been here we did not go to services at Shucutitan.
He had told us on Saturday that he thought there would probably be 12 people.
We spent the morning cooking, cleaning and getting ready. Of course, the rain continued.
About 12:20 they all arrived, in the end there were Nelson, his wife and 2
kids, his mother, his sister and her son, his mother-in-law and two nieces
about 10-12 yrs. Old. Charlotte had made a taco salad, chips and cheese dip,
and both chicken and hamburger Mexican style casseroles, and corn and potato salad.
For dessert she made Mississippi mud and put a peach half in the dish. The
adults all ate a lot, the kids not so much but everyone loved the dessert. We
visited for a couple of hours after lunch. They wanted to leave but the rain
kept pouring down. They had come in taxies but those don't come up this far
unless they are bringing someone. I told them I could take everyone in two
trips with the car. We went first with Nelson's wife, her mother and their 2
kids. He went and came back with me and then we took his mother-in-law and the
rest of the group to another house across town. By the time we got through with
all that it was about time for the 5:00 service. None of our visitors that went
last Sunday went today because of the rain and our number was down not surprisingly.
When we got home, I washed up the large load of dishes and we went to bed
pretty early.
