Getting there. Today
Charlotte had to go to last meeting with Rachel and Linda to get ready for the
training seminar for Sunday school teachers.
The seminar is this Saturday in Ataco and about 10 congregations are invited. Several sisters and Aronldo are all going
with Charlotte in our car to the seminar.
The meeting today is in Apeneca at the home of Hector and Rachel so we
had also told Bessie we would come by and see her and her mother at 10:30. We left about 9:30 and went by to visit a few
minutes with Rosaria and to tell her we would not be seeing her very often but
that we would continue to pray for her to make the decision to become a Christian. We had a good visit with Bessie and Martita
and left about noon. The meeting at
Rachel's was for 1:00 and I said we should just look for a restaurant in
Apeneca but Charlotte said she would rather run home. I had planned to take a bus back to Juayua
and after the shooting on the bus in Juayua last Wednesday I think she just
didn't want me to ride the bus. Anyway
we had a quick lunch and she headed out and called when she got there. I was staying at home because we had told the
worker someone would be home so he could finish installing our sink and clothes
washer hookup. He was supposed to come
at 1:30. When he did not show up by 3 I
walked around the corner to where the new house is being built and there he
was. He came back with me and looked to
see what he would need and then went back to get his stuff. He did return quickly and started to
work. He finished the drain for the
washer so we could use that. Then he
looked for a while at the drain for the sink and I explained to him how that
went together. I soon realized he knew
little about plumbing and I have done my share of it in our house over the
years so I told him I would install the drain for the sink if he would connect
the water source to the sink faucet. I
did not know how to turn the water off at the street and did not have the
materials to do the water source connection.
He got that done and also put cement around the sink to solidify it in
place. I had to run to the hardware for
a plastic washer. Fortunately Charlotte
got back home with the car about 4:20 because the hardware closes at 5. I had to buy a bag of drain parts for $3.50
to get the one washer I needed. We told
the worker we needed to go out about 5:45 and as he was wrapping up his work
the landlord came by. He said he wanted
to open the sink and look at the drain installation which was pretty funny
because there was none. I told him I
would do that when we got home and the cement had time to set up some. We went out to look at a Funeral Parlor that
was being vacated as a possible place for the Church to meet. The owner did not arrive but we called her
and she said she did not have the keys yet because the previous tenants were
not completely out . When we got home I
did get the sink installed but it was very difficult because the parts did not
want to hold together. In the end they
did but I don't feel they are very strong.
I got the water filter hooked up and it worked great and I got the
washer in place and hooked up so it was ready for use. I washed a large pile of dishes that had
accumulated and it was easy to tell that having the sink was going to be so
much better and cleaner for washing the dishes as well as a place to brush our
teeth and to wash up and also to get filtered water which we had been buying
since we moved in. We are definitely
getting there on the new house.
Neighbor, Jose, brought his snake by to show us!
Wow, it has grown!
Nice pet.
