A little scare. Charlotte got
up this morning and put on a load of towels first thing. After those we washed a load of pants and the
washer did great. It had always dried
the clothes pretty good because it has a long and powerful centrifuge
cycle. When we had tried to wash a load
by draining into the bathroom pila the drain hose must have been too close to
the tile because the clothes were still soaked when I got them out of the
washer. They took forever to dry that
time. We had told Cesar we should head
out for our studies earlier than last Wednesday because we ran late all
day. At 9 someone knocked on the
door. We thought it was Cesar but it was
Arnoldo. He said he was out of school today
because his teacher was sick. Cesar
arrived in a few minutes and we headed out.
We went by Mr. Rivas but he was still not home, we have not seen him in
a long time. Next we had a study with
Julia. She is to the point of decision
and she knows that but is still resisting.
Then we went to Delmy and had a good study with her. We had started out only speaking with her
briefly at her gate for several times a few months ago and now we have had two
good studies the last two weeks. This
time we finished up about 11:30 so we had some time to go home for lunch and a
short rest. In the afternoon we went by
Sister Ana's. She mentioned that she
would like to try to attend services but with her arthritis it is so difficult.
We wanted to take some food by for Sara and Mario and try to reconnect. They were not home so we decided to give the
food to Rosalidia and Jose Manuel because her mother was sick. There were several relatives there when we
arrived including her father, Bro. Francisco who had attended for a while when
we first came here but had not been in a long time. We all told him how much we missed him and
had a prayer for his wife. Tonight he
came to the 5:00 service. After we left
Rosalidia's we went to a study with Omar, Emili and Gisela. We read the first chapter of the WBS material
in English while they recorded it on a phone.
They said they would attend the evening study and Omar and Emili
did. Nelson also came and brought Ruby
which made 4 visitors for our Wednesday service. We had a good discussion about allowing
Christ to live through us and living in His strength and not our own. Charlotte taught the kids about John 14:1-4
what heaven would be like and they made neat edible houses out of graham
crackers with frosting to hold them together and they sure had a time. After service we gave Omar and Emili a ride
to Selectos and as usual these days brought Zuleyma and Danielito back with us
since they live just up the street.
About 8 there was a knock on our door.
The young man who had done the electrical work had come by because we still
owed him $5 since I only had a $20 Saturday. He said he had come by at 4 and
the car was not here but the door was standing partially open. He said he had closed it for us. We were amazed at both his honesty and that
nothing was missing. We will certainly
be more careful in the future. As we had
left earlier I had told Charlotte I forgot to lock the door with the key but
thought it was shut well and should be fine.
I still took a good look around after he left to make sure all was in
place and no extra people were hiding anywhere.
Charlotte said she may still not sleep well but I am sure if anyone had
found the door open and wanted to take anything they would have done so and
ran. Anyway we are sure thankful and
will certainly be more cautious.
