Don't want to be a statistic.
We had decided to discontinue the Saturday English classes for the time
being since we have been down to only 3 people now for quite a while. I wanted to bring everyone over for
refreshments at our new house and to talk about that. I also wanted to get the car washed since it
was filthy and we hope that it will stay cleaner now that we will mostly be in
a paved area and have a garage. We
worked around the house all morning other than a walk to the market and by
Selectos. It sure is nice that
everything is so close now. After lunch
I headed out to the carwash and then on to wait at Regina's for everyone to
arrive to bring them over. While I was
waiting for the car to be washed the lady there gave me a current
newspaper. I read an article that said
there were 6670 homicides in El Salvador last year. That was 2758 more than in 2014. The worst month was August with 918 and that
was the worst month on record in the history of El Salvador. It also said there were 35 homicides on New
Year's Day, off to another good start.
The sad thing is that the article also said how the government is very
confident in their plan of action and how well it is working. The amazing thing is how peaceful it seems
here in Juayua. All the violence is in
and around San Salvador and that seems like another country sometimes. Anyway, Carlos did not show up so I brought
Nelson and Arnoldo back over to our new house after passing by the new location
for the church so Nelson could see that also.
We just visited and talked and Nelson said he would like to continue
studying the Bible with us as soon as the coffee harvest was over and he had
more free time. He said that his family
had moved from the home of his wife's family to the home of his father and that
was very near our new house. About 2:45
I headed over to pick up Kelly and family for our Saturday study and so they
could see the new house. When we got
back Nelson was still there so we had dessert with them and he had some
again. Then we all watched the film on
the New Testament Church. At the end we offered to give them a ride home but
they said they had planned to walk and Nelson said he had somewhere he needed
to go but would be at the service in the morning. After service we went back up to the old
house to skype with the kids. We only
talked to Caleb and Clifton but got messages from Christina and Leanna. Sure will be good when we get back on the
net. Hopefully at least by Monday or
Tuesday all will be back to normal.
