Night of
parties! While we planned to have Jose
and Kelly and family for dinner and had lots of cooking to do, first we had
some arranging to do at the church and a study scheduled. Dwaine headed for the church building and I
went to Suleyma’s because she was going with me to Wendy’s to study. When I arrived, Suleyma was very upset. Danielito, her son of almost 7 months has
been teething and having an upset stomach for several weeks. She said that the last two days he had a fever
of about 104. That is quite high and she
had gone to the doctor yesterday. He
said he thought he had an inflammation or infection in his stomach and gave a
list of medicines for him. She had not
been able to get these. So, I told her I
would go by Wendy’s and reschedule the study for Wednesday and I would see if I
could locate the meds. So, I walked to
the Wendy’s alongside the cemetery and she was home. She said the change would work and she and
Oscar were planning to come to church on Sunday morning. Next, I went by the church to see if Dwaine
was finished and tell him of the changes.
He still had errands to run, one of which was to take a borrowed ladder
back to Don Santos. He needed our car,
so I drove Cesar’s. That worked fine,
but when I got to the pharmacy, there was little parking because of the
festivities. I parallel parked along
Selectos, but there was a large coke truck in front of me and I really didn’t
have room to pull forward enough. It
made the parking a slow process because especially because he had no power
steering. The pharmacy didn’t have the
meds, so I headed to another pharmacy. I
knew parking would be difficult, so I found a spot near Omar’s. Emily was at home and she said that she would
walk with me to the pharmacy. They had
all the items that Danielito needed, so I was able to take these to
Suleyma. We had a prayer and she started
him on the meds. By the time I got back
to the church building it was time for lunch.
Although, I had cooked some this morning, it was time to finish up for
our dinner ‘party!’ I went to pick up
everyone, and Jose was not home. He was
painting an owl on a bedroom wall for a child.
He had been painting all day and thought his job would take two days to
finish. So, we missed him. However, Kelly, Kiki and Nicole all
came. We did the study first and then
had dinner. They all planned to come to
our first service and it was good to have them.
Kelly said that ‘little by little,’ ‘poco a poco’ was learning about
Christ. It was a good study. Afterwards, we were afraid driving would just
be too hard through town so we decided to walk them about half way home and see
the Juayua ‘party! Wow, there was so
much food about, all fixed so nice on plates.
There were also so many people.
At one time we passed a line of about 30 police and soldiers coming out
to patrol the city. After about an hour,
they headed on home and we did as well.
Even though, the sound systems were not immediately outside our door, it
was very loud. Little did we know that
our third ‘party!’ would last the rest of the night, loud music until 3 and
then, the taking down of a booth outside our bedroom window that sold candies
from 3 to 4:30 and then the construction of another booth outside our bedroom
window from 4:30 to 6. What a night….again!
