January 8, 2016

We meet again.  Today is our first preacher's meeting of the New Year.  This meeting is in Izalco which is about 15 minutes past Sonsonate so we decided we would go on to San Salvador after the meeting since we would be almost half way there.  Much of the meeting was spent in discussing a theme and then fleshing it out for the three family conferences that will be held this year.  It was decided that the topic would be Silent Enemies of the Family and the first seminar will be about the effects of social media on the family.  The seminar will be held on March 26th in Ciudad Real near Santa Ana.  We will be back in the states for our two week visit in March at this time so we will miss the first one.  We discussed the possibility that the second seminar could be in Juayua and be held by our group from Central on the Saturday they are here in July but we said we would have to talk to our group in Juayua-Salcoatitan and also talk to our group who are coming from Huntsville.  The meeting went until almost 1 so we decided not to stay for lunch but to head on to San Salvador.  We did get to give a brother from Santa Tecla a ride back.  We were a little concerned about getting lost but he said he lived right beside the main road we always take just as we were getting into the outskirts so there was no problem at all.  We stopped at a large hardware store called EPA to look at their shower head water heaters.  We decided on one and then found it was $10 off of the regular price so that was good.  It said maximum flow and superior heating so we will see.  Then we went on to Walmart and got some groceries and a few odds and ends.  We stopped at a small roadside furniture store on the way back and got a table to use for communion in our new location and we finally got home about 6:30.   We had been home about 10 minutes when Wendy and Oscar knocked on our door.  They had come to ask if we could help them to be able to get a last sonogram for Wendy on January 20th because she is due to deliver on February 3rd. After we visited for a few minutes we gave them a ride back to near their house since they had walked from the other side of town to get to our house.  Then we stopped by Selectos for a few items.

Not the picture you want to see....
Well, a rather large deceased roach in our garage...
but at least the ants were conducting a funeral procession....
