This morning Bro. Ricardo came by with his truck and helped me move
the dryer, some chairs and a couple of large suitcases full of children's
activities items to the new location of the church because it has 220 (
although there is no plug for a dryer we are hoping to install one because we
found out that to have 220 installed in the house we moved to would cost about
$250 and we could just run up to the building once a week and dry the shirts,
skirts and blouses) and there are some storage spaces available. At 10
Charlotte and I went around the block to Cesar and Eliza's house to work on
invitations and for Charlotte and Eliza to work on the children's class for the
first service at the new location this Sunday.
When we finished the invitations, Cesar and Abby went with me to the
copier store and the bank and then I walked up to town and had copy keys made
for the church building and a couple more for our new house. After lunch Charlotte had her weekly study
with Socorro and I spent the afternoon trying to contact Claro to find out when
our internet would be moved. I waited on
hold on my cell phone for more than an hour (during which time Charlotte and I
walked back by the copy store to pick up the invitations, then we went on to
Selectos for a few items and then we got back home and she left for Socorro’s
and I was still on hold but no one ever responded). I finally gave up and walked up to the local
office to see if the people there could help me speak to someone in customer
service but they said all they could do was file a report. They did give me a different number to call
so I finally got to talk to three different people and the last one said he
would try to expedite our request. I
spent the rest of the afternoon cutting up the invitations because we had put 4
on each page to save on special paper and color printing. About 5 I received a
call from Claro saying they would come to install the internet tomorrow between
11 and 11:30 and about 5 minutes later I received another call asking if anyone
had called about the installation.
(Hopeful) From Charlotte…..my study went well with Socorro. We had studied salvation for several weeks
and today she had lots of questions and comments. She had been quiet during our studies, but
today it was obvious that she was listening and considering. I still think it may be some time before she
makes a decision to follow Christ, but it was great to see that she was
thinking about our studies. After
dinner our former landlord Don Santos and his family came for their weekly
study. It went really well and
afterwards they promised to try to attend the service this Sunday which would
be the first time for them and a big step so be praying they will keep this
commitment. After they left we decided
we would walk down the street by our house to see all the shops we had heard
about with all their sweets for sale.
There sure were lots of delicious looking items but none were on our low
sugar diets and we were strong in resisting temptation.
