January 15, 2016

Homecoming queens.  This morning we did not have a heavy schedule because we are just in the process of changing our off day from Friday to Monday and Cesar and Eliza were going to San Salvador for him to do a radio recording and for Eliza to have some further eye exams.  Other than our morning walk with Wicket we spent the morning with Charlotte cooking and me washing dishes as usual.  We wanted to take some soup and bread to Suleyma because of her husband and baby having Chikungunya.  When we got there about 10 the baby was about well and her husband was getting better but now she was coming down with it also.  We visited for a little while then walked down to visit with Jose and Kelly.  We knew they were home because we had passed them on the street as we were driving up to the area they lived in.  They were walking and holding hands and we asked if they were on their honeymoon.  They laughed and said yes.  When we got back to their house we had a good visit and Jose promised to come to the study tomorrow (he has not been with us during a study for quite a while now because it was not ready to make changes in his life).  We were so thankful that we had gotten to spend lot of time with them over the past few weeks and of course thankful for their wedding.  After we got home we had lunch and rested some and waited for the parade we were told would be about 4 pm.  We went out to find it but there was no sign of anything going on and we finally found someone who told us it would actually be about 8 pm.   When we went back out at 8 we had success and got to be right next to all the floats as we walked by them on the street.  Each one had a very dressed up young lady who had been elected to represent her area of town (colonia).  Almost all also had two or three very dressed up young kids on them also.  Sure reminded me of the homecoming queen parades in my little home town when I was a child.  After the parade there was loud music for several hours as many people passed the night dancing and drinking.  Many streets were closed off so that they could be used as paid admission dancing spots.  We did not try to go by any of them but had no trouble hearing the music. Finally went to sleep.
