First service at new location.
We got ready and got up to the new location at 8:30 to do some final preparation. When we arrived the new chairs we had asked
Ricardo and Joli to pick up for us were there so we had plenty of chairs. We managed to come up with an arrangement
that gave us spaces for 53 chairs. A
little after 9 some of the other brothers started to arrive. We had the songs and the power point
presentation of the sermon projected on the wall. Ricardo also set up their sound system so we
had two microphones. We had about 40
adults and 12 children. We only had 7
visitors and all of them, except 1, were people we had already been studying
with. Our landlord Don Santos and Alba
who Charlotte has been studying with both came for their first time so that was
really good. We did have to borrow
electricity from the next door neighbor since the electricity had not gotten
connected yet but everything went ok and we had plenty of light from the window
and door. A brother named Alberto who is
from Honduras led the singing and he had a lot of talent. Cesar did an excellent job on the sermon. Charlotte, Linda and Eliza taught the
children's class. After the services we
had refreshments of French bread with shredded chicken and a cookie baked by
Charlotte and orange juice. I was a
little disappointed that we did not have more visitors after giving out so many
invitations but overall it was a good inauguration for our new location and we
were glad to have opening day behind us.
After a quick lunch we headed to Schucutitan to visit with Edgardo and
his family. We had a good visit but it
was kind of short because we had to get back for 4:00 service at
Salcoatitan. There were a lot fewer
people than last week when so many from area churches visited. We had a 15 minute break and ate the rest of
the bread with chicken and cookies that had been left from our morning
services.
