January 3, 2016

Last Sunday and first Sunday.  Today was our last meeting of the church in Juayua at the home of Sister Regina and Brother Pedro.  For 13 months they have hosted the church in their home. What generosity!

It was a sad event in a way but also a very exciting one and we were overflowing our space as we have for the past few Sundays so the need to move to a bigger space was clear.  We had Bro. Laura and his wife, Seyli, visiting with us and they said they plan to start moving to Juayua this week.  We are excited about this new addition to our church family.  Brother Carlos Santa Maria (Charlie) was also visiting.  We also did our birthday cake this Sunday but explained that it was for Jan., Feb., and March so that we could shift to baking large cakes less often.  After lunch Bro. Charlie and Bro. & Sis. Laura got to come by our new house for a short visit.  About 3:30 we headed out for the very first service of the church in Salcoatitan.  The building was beautiful and very packed.  There were over 100 people present including all the children and there were not enough seats for everyone.  The children's class was outside in the small park in front of the building.  There were 16 visitors but most of the people were from surrounding congregations.  I assisted in serving the Lord's Supper and to my surprise I was asked to lead the prayers for both the bread and the offering. Charlotte and Linda taught the children's class.   Ricardo was the master of ceremonies and Carlos preached.  He spoke of the providence he felt was involved in finding a vacant building that was built for a church to meet in and the spoke of the importance of the temple in the Old Testament and ended with how we are the temple of God now.  After the service we served tamales and coffee and there was a raffle for some gifts.   The service was from 4 to 6 so afterwards we still had time to go up to the old house and skype with the kids.  Still waiting for the internet to be moved to our new house.
