February 1, 2015

We arrived January 31, 2015 in El Salvador.  We had a very smooth trip except for the tearful good-byes.  We have a phenomenally amazing family and departure was difficult.   It was good to depart from Birmingham so that we could have some family visiting time prior to the airport scene.  We did have a funny family photo op at the airport.  There were single shots with mom, single shots with dad, single shots with mom and dad, group shots and every combo possible.
Hector and Carlos met us in San Salvador and we got to our home in Ataco about 11:30.  The great part was we got to meet Lucky, who worked alongside Caleb, Della and baby Charlotte.  The bad part was her news.  She said that the landlady had come by the house Saturday evening and said that she had a potential buyer for the house.  If that is the case, we may have to move late February.  Besides the physical part of the move, there is another difficulty.  We will not have our year visa in place and we cannot sign a lease.  The current house was just month to month on the rent.  So, we pray that all this will work out.  We will try to go speak to the landlady tomorrow to get more details.
Today we had the opportunity to visit three churches in the area.  One was at 9 this morning, one at 4 and one at 7.  After the 9 o’clock service, I stayed afterwards with Lucky and the teen girls for lunch and Bible study.  Then, they did a great thing.  They set out to visit everyone that was absent from service.  So, we walked many miles and visited about 5 people.  We sang songs, prayed, encouraged and visited.  Could you imagine missing church and then a big group shows up on your doorstep?  That was a blessing to be a part of. Dwaine went to Hector and Rachel's home for a delicious meal.
We have skyped with all the kids and everyone seems settled.  We are really tired as it is about 10:30 with a really busy last few days.  The Lord has blessed us and all is good.  Keep us in your prayers.
