February 15, 2015

Yesterday we finished the first service at 11:20.  Rachel Cortez and 3 of her children were not able to come to services because they are going through what they think might be the whooping cough.  We went with a brother to her house to take the Lord’s Supper.  It was a little scary to hear her tell of what they were going through and that the Drs. here really have no idea of what to do for it.  Please keep praying for them because it sounds like they will be having problems for a while.  We also asked to borrow their scanner.   We wanted to scan all our immigration documents into the computer for safe keeping after we turned the originals in to the authorities here which we hope to do Thursday.   In the afternoon I called the landlady of the house we are in now to confirm that we would be able to borrow her truck for moving on the 28th.  Then I walked over to the landlady of the new house where we are moving to confirm with her that we would take that house and that I would be there at 8:00 am on the morning of the 27th to pay the rent and get the key.  She said that she wanted one month rent as a deposit because we could not sign a contract and because we were only planning to stay there till we decided where we would be working long term.  It is $375 per month which is expensive for here but it is a brand new house and very nice by standards here.   Charlotte says she thinks I will not want to leave after moving to a brand new house.  We will have lived in this one only a month and that is certainly the shortest time we have done that.  I went to the Ataco services while Charlotte worked on the scanning.  Then we went to services at Juayua.   Carlos had driven for us the first two Sundays but after that and working there all day last Wen. I told him we were ready to go on our own.  He said he was glad because he had traveled to a city somewhat far away to preach that morning and was not planning to go to Juayua.  Edgardo overheard our conversation and prayed for us to have a safe trip.  We had no problems going and we got to hear Noe preach for the first time and it was really great.  He is so animated and exciting to hear.  Charlotte also had a student ask for some tutoring help in chemistry from a young man in the church.  While that may be exciting, it may have its language challenges with the vocabulary.  She is excited about the prospects.  We did have a 4 vehicle caravan on the way back to Ataco since everyone had to go in the same direction.  Sunday is an exciting day to be out with the church.

Interesting colors!

Speaking of Chemistry, how is this for a mortar and pestle?

Unusual bloom....
