We got home somewhat earlier tonight and not quite as
tired. We went down a long and rocky
road to Santa Katarina Masahuat. On the
way we passed two different men who were each carrying a fairly large tree
trunk and then three ladies in a group each carrying a large bundle of wood on
their heads. I guess those people really
“would” work. The preacher’s meeting had
23 people attending (Charlotte was the only lady). There were several people there we had known
from past trips to El Salvador and several new ones that were great to
meet. Allan Melton from Texas was here
in El Salvador and he came to the meeting to tell the preachers about the
program he was involved in to try to supply songbooks and Bibles to all
Christians and regular visitors to services at any of the congregations in El
Salvador and all the other Central and South American countries. He is 78 and still going pretty strong and he
spoke in Spanish. He and Cesar are to
come to our house for lunch Monday. We
are looking forward to that. The preacher and his son had asked Charlotte to do
a 3-part seminar regarding teaching.
That will be something to work toward sometime in the future. After the meeting we drove to have a study
with a new Christian. We had set a goal
of memorizing John 3:16 in Spanish. That
was funJ.
We are going to have a memory verse every week. We will memorize in Spanish and she will
memorize in English. We decided to study
the book of Mark to learn more about Christ.
She desperately wants her mother to go to church. We invited her to sit in on the study. While she didn't, I know she heard it for she
was just in the next room. Additionally, we went to another home Bible study
tonight that Bro. Carlos led. He does a
really great job and we always enjoy his teaching very much. We were sorta on the front porch of the house
where it was fairly open and it was really windy. I sure was wishing I had taken my jacket and
I am pretty sure Charlotte was chilly too.
Tomorrow we are going to be more at home getting ready for Osvaldo and
his family to come to dinner. Charlotte
is going to an afternoon ladies class and Carlos is coming by at 3:00 to take
us to look at another house here In Ataco.
So we will have more to tell about tomorrow.
