Well, we are on our own.
Lucky left yesterday afternoon to be back in the States for 2-3
months. She has already sent us an
e-mail that she arrived safely. She is a
dedicated servant of our Lord and she was great to spend time with and
certainly was really great to have here while we got our first week under our
belts. It is different to be on our
own. Our first night in the house by
ourselves but more significantly our first studies by ourselves. Yesterday morning (Monday) we went back to
both the older lady and the younger lady that we had been reading the Bible
with last week and we began studies with them about becoming Christians. Then in the afternoon Charlotte studied with
a young lady who was baptized in Jan. to help her in her new life in
Christ. I sat in on the study and made a few comments
because I did not want Charlotte to go to that area by herself. In all three studies we were the only ones
who spoke English (no translator) and they all went pretty well. I’m sure we make lots of mistakes but people
definitely seem to understand us just fine.
Then last night we went to a house church and to our great surprise Bro.
Azucena was there and did the speaking.
He spoke on the ones in Eph. 4 and it was a great message. Today our schedule is open because we were
thinking we might be going to speak to the church here that is supposed to
sponsor us for our visas. That didn’t
work out for today so we are going to go to Ahauchapan to try to find a brother
there who is a mechanic. The AC does not
work on our car and it would be really nice if it did. Also there are some loose bumper parts that
need to be fixed. I heard that some
crazy American guy drover the car for several months before we got here and he
was pretty rough on it. Yesterday we
went to a little lab here to have our blood typed so that we could get El
Salvadoran driver licenses as soon as we get our temporary visas. We though they would just do a finger prick
but they drew blood with a needle and Charlotte noticed a few safety steps she
felt were left out. Well, at least the
needles were brand new. I will go back
by there this morning to get the results. Every day is an adventure here so I am sure
this one will be also.
We do have a prayer request. Since our arrival, Hector and Rachel's children have been sick. They have had ongoing coughs and now have stomach viruses. Please pray for a quick return to good health.
Lucky Departing for the States
Hmm. I seem to remember the day pretty well when those bumper problems started, something about 8 people in a 5 person car and the craziest ride of my life haha
