February 12, 2015

Yesterday (Wednesday) was another long and very tiring trip to San Salvador.  Probably there isn’t any other kind.  Between the time it takes just to drive there and back plus the tension of the traffic in San Salvador and all the walking that is inevitable.  We left the house at about 7:45 and arrived back near 6:45.  We were worn out again.  At least, we are relaxing and enjoying our “retirement”.   On the plus side, it was good day of getting more done on our visas but we did not get to turn them into immigration.  We went first to the police where we got our papers saying we had no criminal records in El Salvador (give us more time on that).  Then we went to the translator and got all our papers that had been translated to Spanish.   But we still had not had a chance to meet with the church representative here who was doing the papers for us in El Salvador.  We had an appointment to meet with him at 2:00 but that turned out to be El Salvadoran time (closer to 3:00) so he did fill everything out but by the time we finished there it was about 4:00 so we did not have time to go to immigration.  We hope to go back next Thursday to hopefully finish up everything. On the plus side, we did have to opportunity to eat lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Azucena at the mall.   Last night we had an unexpected visitor, Bryan, a young man who had become friends with Caleb and Della.  This was his second time and he stayed about an hour.  Caleb had studied with him and we hope we can continue that.  This morning we are off to a preacher’s gathering in Santa Katarina Masahuat (pronounced mass a what) so it is Jim Norville’s favorite place to say in El Salvador.  It goes till noon so we hope to study with the young lady Charlotte studied with last Monday who was baptized in Jan.
