Dwaine
This morning I went to Auchapan by myself to meet Carlos to go to the shop to get the car worked on.  It was the longest trip I had made by myself.  The first garage we went to was very large and they were working on several cars but said that the person who worked on AC was in San Salvador today.  We made an appointment to go back next Tue. They said they would probably have to keep the car 2-3 days.  I don’t know what we will do because we have used it every single day and often several times a day.  But I remember that Caleb and Della were without a vehicle for quite a while so I am sure we will make it somehow.  It is hot here most of the time and we would really enjoy the AC.  Then we went to another shop owned by a relative of Carlos.  They were going to work on the bumpers.  All corners were loose and one was so bad that it would sometimes blow in the wind as we went down the road.  On one front bumper someone had tried to repair it by putting in a screw from the outside and it didn't look very good to say the least.  I didn't do much talking but we pointed that out and I thought we conveyed how bad it looked.  Then Carlos dropped me off at our house and then came back at 11 to have lunch and take me back.  To my complete dismay when we got back to the shop there were TWO screws going through from the outside on BOTH front bumpers. I did not get upset but I did tell Carlos I could not believe they had done that.  We asked what the charges were and they said $5.00 so I gave them $10.00 and we left.  They had not done anything to the back corners and they asked if I wanted them to-as you can guess-I said I don’t think so.  When we got home I looked up the words for nuts and bolts and went to the hardware store in Ataco and got some.  After about 30 minutes I had the back bumpers back secured like they had been from the factory.  All that had happen was that some fasteners had vibrated out over the rough roads and left the bumpers loose.  Maybe I could open up a body shop here-ha ha.  Yesterday afternoon the man who owns the house came by on the pick-up truck they are going to loan us to move in and firmed all that up.  It is a short bed and I think our table will stick out about 3 feet but we only have to go about 4 blocks and it will be fine.  I think we will have to make quite a few trips to get everything moved but it still should not take all day.  He said they would come over at the end of the day to make sure everything looked ok and if it did they would refund the deposit.

I spent the morning preparing a lesson for an afternoon study with Katherine while Dwaine was out.  I am trying to encourage Katherine to memorize some verses, so we chose I Cor. 10:13.  I worked all morning memorizing it, for it was quite long…..of course in Spanish.  We decided we needed a shorter verse for next time.  Since I have known Katherine, she has been praying that her mom could come to church.  She works at a restaurant and has to work on Sundays.  I asked if she would sit in on the study and she did!  I was excited about that.  Her name is Claudia.  That is Dwaine’s moms’ name, so we can remember that.  For the evening we went to a study at Zoila’s.  There was a good turn out and Carlos taught the lesson.  The subject was the same as the Monday night study with Hector, but the lessons were very different.  One of the men walked us back to our car since it was dark when it was over.  Zoila is helping Rachel in her home with all the sickness there.  Most everyone had a sore throat and cold last night and Carlos had some trouble talking the whole hour.  He is good at drawing comments from everyone and the lesson is very interactive.  Finally, when we got home, Bryan came over for about an hour.  I heated him up some left over pizza and sent some cookies home.  Caleb and Della had several studies with him as well as the Bika group that visited last summer.  Caleb said they studied the book of John and also studied regarding baptism.  He is involved in a church here, but we definitely want to continue to open our doors and look for opportunities to study.
