Early
start. Kelly said to arrive at her house
at 7:30 and I made that to cut lettuce for an hour. She was expecting about 60 people, and was
cooking salad, rice and meat….beef and peliway…cross between goat and
sheep. Her family was there, her brother
and girlfriend and her sister, Melissa, and her boyfriend. They had all come in from San Salvador. We wrapped up the salad at 9:30, so I walked
on down to the church building. Our
numbers were a little low as Kelly and her family did not come. The boy bringing the meat was late and she still
had that cooking to do. Hector and
Rachel were traveling and decided to stop by and join us. That was the first time they had come to a
service and I enjoyed having their family in the Sunday school class. My helper
was not able to come, so Gisela helped me out.
During class my phone rang and Claro was on the line wanting to come to
our house at 1 to work on our internet connection. Cesar said he could
house sit for us to have them come since he was not going to the
graduation. We were thankful for that!
After the service, things happened quickly for the luncheon. Dwaine left to take people home and pick up
the cake. Kiki and his brother-in-law
even carried their kitchen table down from their house. In all about 5 tables were set, décor finished
and food brought. Jose had even
handpainted a beautiful banner. Things
started promptly at 1. Dwaine and I
served cookies and probably about 100 were eaten. In the end about 40 came. After the cookies, we also helped serve
plates. When we
settled down to eat, we got to do some visiting. Dwaine got to sit next to Melissa, the girl
graduating and I sat next to a young family.
The lady, Sandra, was a nurse so we got to talk science some. She worked at a hospital in Sonsonate. Her husband, Raul, kept their soon to be two
year old son, Edgardo. He had two
surgeries since his birth, so he had his hands full and he was doing great. We invited them to dinner on Friday and are
hopeful they will come. Sandra was a
little uncertain on her schedule, so they took our numbers. We are hopeful they will come. For the evening service in Salcoatitan,
Carlos led a short service of only one hour.
A group of Bica workers from a preaching school in Honduras was coming,
and they needed to go pick them up. They
have a week of activities planned....a few
of the workers will stay in their home and door knock for the week and end with
some gospel meetings. We hope we can
have our Thursday night group to go.
Happy graduation!
Crowd gathering.
Handpainted banner!
