Ready or
not! Seminar day is here! Excited and nervous all at once. Dwaine got up at 4:30 to load the car and get
ready. At 5:30 he headed out to pick up
Arnoldo and Gisela and swung back for me about 5:45. We drove to Entre Nubes….Between the Clouds….near
Ataco and arrived a little after 6.
However, their gate was not open yet.
It wasn’t long and they opened. We unloaded and
began sorting. In the end we had two
table fulls of materials. Dwaine left to
return to Juayua to pick up another carload along with Cesar at 7:15 at our
building. We had 20 going from
Juayua. Some live in Apaneca and so some
were going to take a bus to go. The
crowd gathered and there were about 200 people.
Rachel, the host, gave the welcome and Noe gave the keynote speech. This year we had both men and women
attending. The format was to have 4
stations,….methods of conveying the lesson by Rachel, songs by Linda, crafts
using recycled materials by Luzelena and Betty and using science and food for
object lessons by me. Each station was
50 minutes. We had snacks and a nice
lunch. At the end, Rachel gave a packet
of class supplies for each church represented.
I think there were 16 congregations.
Finally there was a raffle with lots of additional classroom goodies. Rachel had put together three complete ‘libraries’
for children. She put a lot of work into
the day. In the end, we were all
exhausted. I would say a special thanks
for Dwaine for running the PowerPoint, Arnoldo keeping materials clean and ready to
go, and Gisela for translations. With
everyone working together we kept a lively and fun station going. The ideas that I use are new to El Salvador
and everyone seems excited about trying the ideas in class. The PowerPoint will be sent out to each congregation
and it has pics and directions. We got
home close to 5. About 7, Cesar, Eliza
and Margarita came by. Margarita was
from a congregation in San Salvador and they had asked me to do a seminar for
them at the end of October. She had won
one of the libraries and was traveling back to San Salvador on Sunday
morning by bus. She asked me to bring the books
since it is fairly heavy. Needless to
say, we called it an early evening.
