Marching along.
Days seems short on time to be about the studies. There are just not enough hours in the day to
have meetings, plan events, prepare studies, get ready for children classes,
cook and so much more. Studies are first
priority. Today was a beautiful day to
have this opportunity. First, Dwaine
went out before breakfast to have his blood sugar tested. We have both tried to work on our sugar
intake so that we can get a reduction in our health insurance, especially since
it is about to make a big jump due to Dwaine’s upcoming birthday. He was a several points high on his
sugar. It was $3.50 to run this test and
it came back just a few points over. We
had really cut out sugar our first month back, but it creeped up on us some
this last month, we will try to renew efforts this last month. His blood pressure had also been a little
high before we left. The only way to
check that was to actually have a doctor’s visit so he walked out the front
door and down a couple of buildings to the doctor on our street. He was really nice and charged $10 for a chat
and pressure. There were a few
incidentals….weight and listen to the chest too. At any rate, we will forge ahead cutting the
sweets. Afterwards, Dwaine and I went to
study with Celia. She was feeling much better
and was eager to study. Next, we walked
by Wendy’s to see if they had any news and they did not. We are really in the dark as to her delivery
status. Reina was home, so we talked
with her about studying. She said she
could study in the afternoon, so we planned to return at 2:30. She was ready and we visited and studied with
her. As we left, we realized there were
many police in the cemetery and a soldiers along the walk. I asked the soldier what happened and he said
a policemen of 26 years had been assassinated.
He was killed in another city. At
the same time his father was also murdered in another town. When went home for a little bit and then left
for a Bible study at Mario and Seyli’s
home….our old home. They had a great
turnout, maybe about 15ish people plus kids.
Jose and Kelly came and they volunteered to have next week’s meeting in
their home! That was exciting. Seyli cooked quesadilla’s for everyone, but
really all the ladies jumped in and helped.
At any rate everyone stayed around for a great visit. After we returned home, Oscar came by to ask
if we knew anything about Wendy. That is
actually amazing to us that he had no idea if his son had been born or
not. He has been working and Wendy’s
phone has not been working. She is in Ahuachapan
and that is some distance away. He promised to keep us posted as we hope to go
pick her up when we have news.
