February 13, 2016

What are we waiting for?  Tuesday at the end of our leader's meeting Wendy had walked by with her mother-in-law and they were on their way to the hospital for her to have her baby.  We had not been able to hear from her since then though Charlotte had tried to call her several times.  Oscar, the baby's father had even ridden his bike over to our house to ask if we had any news since they had not been able to hear anything either but when we tried to call while he was here we still got no answer.  This morning we had planned to assist the brothers in Salcoatitan with the movie for the teens that they were doing as an outreach event.  About the time we were ready to leave Oscar knocked on our door and said that they had finally gotten word that the baby was born last night and that everything was good and that Wendy and the baby could come home this morning.  We checked to see if Elizabeth wanted to ride with us since Danielito is still in the same hospital.  The Drs. decided they think he has dengue fever and he has been pretty sick and his platelet count is low.   Elizabeth was going to visit him and Suleyma but she said she did not want to go this early since visiting hours were from noon til 2 and she would just ride the bus. When we went by to pick us Oscar he asked if his mother-in-law could go also. We arrived at the hospital entrance about 9:30 but the guard said even Oscar could not go in till 10.  I took a taxi over to Selectos and got some cookie mixes and a few other things we had been unable to find in Juayua.  I had left the car so Charlotte and Sandra could rest in the shade since only Oscar was permitted to go in the hospital.  I was glad I did not take the car because the area around Selectos was thronged and driving would have been a pain.  I got back about 10:30 and Oscar had just gone inside.  When we had picked up Suleyma and Danielito from Santa Ana after his birth it did not take long at all so we were expecting this to go pretty quickly.  Boy, were we wrong.  At about 1:30 Elizabeth came out from her visit and saw us in the car.  She said that Danielito's platelet count was still low and that he might be transferred to San Salvador if he did not get better by Monday.  She asked the guard about Wendy and he said there were still lots of people waiting to get signed out of the hospital so it might be quite a while.  I decided to walk over to a house near the car where they were selling tortillas and ask if I could pay to use their restroom.  They were really nice and did not want any money but I gave them a little anyway.  It was worth it!!  Then I bought some drinks and cookies and just about the time I got back in the car Wendy and Oscar came out with the baby.  We ended up getting back to Juayua about 2:45 and we had a 3:30 study scheduled with Jose and Kelly and family.  We were at least able to go to the restroom and get a snack before we headed out.  We were not able to get up with Cesar so we went on by ourselves.  Jose was roasting coffee beans in the back as part of their process of making coffee so we just moved our chairs back to sit near him so we could have the study.  He even read some of the verses.  We talked about the church as the body of Christ and 1 Cor. 12 about how all the parts of the body need each other.  At the end we talked about their being baptized and he said that he, Kelly and Kiki were all about ready and where would the baptisms be and what was the procedure.  We thought they might go today but in the end they said they still needed a little more time. BE PRAYING FOR THEM!!!!  When we got back home we cleaned the house and Charlotte worked on preparing some side dishes to go with pupusas.  We had scheduled a dinner for our 4 leader families and afterwards to develop the themes for classes and sermons when our Huntsville group comes in July.  I walked over to the pupusas restaurant at 6:30 and got everyone's order filled.  They were thronged and I had to wait about 40 minutes but everyone arrived somewhat late so we ended up eating about 8 anyway.  We did make a lot of progress but in the end the ladies decided they needed one more session on Monday.
