Promise tamales and they will come.
This morning we picked up Arnoldo and Kenia for the morning
services. Sister Regina was not feeling
well and Elizabeth had gone back to the hospital to visit Suleyma and
Danielito. With most of Regina's family
not there we expected the numbers to be down somewhat and they were, but Kelly,
Kiki, Nicole and Kelly's sister, Melissa (who was visiting from San Salvador)
all came. Afterwards we told them it was
supposed to be really warm here Tuesday and that would be a really good day for
their baptisms. She laughed and said
we'll see. After lunch while we were
cutting out materials for Charlotte to use in teaching the kids at Salcoatitan
Cesar came by for his afternoon coffee and to talk about all the needs that
members of the congregation were having.
At 2:45 we headed out because we wanted to run by Wendy and Oscar's to
take some food and say hello. They were
doing well and Charlotte got to hold the baby for a few minutes. Always makes me nervous that she may get
ideas of wanting another one. Then we
picked up Arnoldo and Brother Jose Manuel and his daughter Tatiana to go to the
service in Salcoatitan. Their service
ended up being really packed. I asked Ricardo
where did all the people come from and he said they had gone door to door in
the neighborhood around the church building and invited everyone to come to eat
tamales to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
The service went on from 4 to 6:30 and Charlotte had to have the
children's class for that entire time.
She was really wiped out by the time it was over. Linda had said to
expect 8 kids, and Charlotte had prepared for 12 but there were actually 16. At least they were all multiples of 4. Guess we will have to have an afternoon
service and try the tamale thing. It
really brought them out. They had about 30 invitations they had given out and
they had about 30 to come! How is that
for 100%! After all that, we just
rested, caught up on blogs and skyped.
Charlotte did get a skype call from her good friend Karen Oshel who has
known her since our Auburn days. We also
ate dinner when we got home since neither of us are big tamale fans. Plus they almost did not have enough after so
many people showed up.
