Yesterday was another 2nd Friday. Time for another monthly preacher’s
meeting. Amazing how quickly a monthly meeting rolls
around. At least this time it was in a
town that was accessible by good roads.
It was also about half way from our house toward Santa Ana so we asked
Cesar if he might be able to make a day of it and go on for our driver’s
licenses and car registration after the meeting. After going to the first meeting Charlotte
had missed the one last month because she was a little uncertain to go since
she was the only lady attending. Several
people had asked about her last time and because we decided we would try for
our licenses since we were that far it was a good excuse for her to go
again. Carlos, who hardly ever speaks so
the meetings were so long, had encouraged Charlotte to go. So, she told him that he didn't see her that
and that she didn't hear him make several comment.
Charlotte had started planning a teacher’s training session with Rachel
and Linda so Hector asked her to speak about that at the meeting. She gave some information and then Hector
added about how talented she was in teaching and speaking and how everyone
needed to take advantage of this opportunity.
When we were in the car on the way to Santa Ana we joked that with 2
guys and a lady in the car, the lady spoke by far the most of us three. None of us may have spoken much but somebody
did. The meeting started at 9 and was
supposed to end at noon but went on until 1:00.
The plastic chairs were really uncomfortable that last hour. One brother really went on and on and finally
another brother said we had been meeting for 3 hours and were all tired and
hungry. When we stood at the end I was
almost unable to stand up. I asked the
brother what meeting he was in that lasted 3 hours the one I was in lasted 4. We requested that next month’s meeting be in
Juayua and then in the afternoon all those who could, might stay and take part
in passing out literature. So that means that Charlotte, Eliza and Regina, with
what help we can give them, gets to cook for about 30 people. Then we had lunch and went on to Santa
Ana. That took about 1 ½ hrs. but went
smoothly. We now have shiny new licenses
that are good for 5 yrs. Even though our visas have to be renewed yearly. We
did have to do the eye exam and that was pretty funny, but ended up ok. Then we went to the Super Selectos in the
mall at Santa Ana because it is really big and Charlotte spent some time
looking for things she had not been able to find in other places. A lady had
recognized her from the seminar that she gave last year in Ahuachapan and they
talked for a bit. Then we treated ourselves to the Burger King next door (at
least I did because lunch was a little small) and we headed home. We got home early enough to have some baby
Charlotte time and to visit with Christina too.
