April 24, 2015

WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!  Carlos arrived at our house just before 9.  He had walked over because Hector had agreed to pick us up there.  We were going to meet at the bus stop but because of Charlotte’s foot we asked him to come by and he graciously agreed.  We stopped in Ahuachapán and picked up Osvaldo and a sister who needed a ride to San Salvador.  We stopped at a huge building supply store in San Salvador because Hector needed a refill for his staple gun.  When we were about 30 minutes from the airport we got the call that the brothers had already arrived.  So when we got there they were already standing outside with their bags.  There was a beautiful young lady with them who was very unexpected.  So unexpected that I was actually and literally speechless (possibly for the first time in my life).  Completely unknown to us until that moment, our daughter Leanna had come along on the trip for the weekend.  Caleb and Della and Christina and Dan had helped her buy the ticket and they had managed to keep it from us completely.  I had gotten out of the van first and just could not believe it, Charlotte was trying to get out slowly and carefully looking down and all the while Leanna was standing right in front of her saying Mama, mama.  Charlotte asked me later why I did not say anything and I said I literally couldn’t.  Along with the many tears of joy at the airport Charlotte was weepy all the way back to Ataco as she and Leanna talked and hugged all the way home.  We were very glad to see Jim, David and Rodney but that may have gotten a little overshadowed.   When we got to Ataco everyone came in for a few minutes to see our house then Hector, Butch Fears, and Harold Turner (elders from Signal Mountain) headed on over to Hector and Rachel’s.  After resting on our balcony for a little while we all headed on over to their house for dinner and had a great time of fellowship there.  With Leanna coming I got moved upstairs to a guest bed but it was certainly worth it.  Actually Rodney and David spent that night at Hector’s since we were going back the next morning for a meeting.

I  have to say, that this was one of the most wonderful moments in my life.  That was a blessing beyond description.  I am so thankful to our children for giving me this gift.  I know that everyone sacrificed so much to make this happen.  I will never be able to express how much this meant.  For me it brings to mind James 1:17,  ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.’  I hope this one isn’t out of context, but for me this was a good and perfect gift sent from my Father by way of our children.  Thank you Father and children…..it was beyond description.  You will all eventually have to make your way here and I am thankful for this time with Leanna.

This picture says it all,  sweet reunion!

Wow, I could not believe Leanna was here!

Dad was speechless!

Tears of joy!

Van full returning to Ataco.

David, Jim and Rodney came too!

Dwaine chased Bryan down after school so he could say hello.

Everyone at Hector's house last night.

Enjoying the fellowship and great food.
