Wednesday is Juayua day.
We got off about 9:15 and went to Cesar & Eliza’s house planning to
help them finish painting. When we
arrived we found that Cesar had put the 2nd coat on about ½ the room and it looked
good. He said he could finish the rest
himself so we spent about 1 ½ hrs. planning a schedule for yesterday as well as
for the near future and talking about contacts.
At noon we went to a new restaurant he had found that served a buffet
style take out or eat in and they also offered delivery. After lunch we talked with them about
possibly studying the Bible sometime and gave them some literature. Then we went over to Regina’s and we all
headed out to do some visiting. The
first place we went was a house of a relative of a young lady who lived in the
states and knew Samuel Azucena . She had
given Samuel information and asked him to ask us to contact her. We had gone on Saturday but only the uncle
was home. When we got there the lady
invited us in and said she would be happy to study with us. As we started the study her brother came in
from the other room. He asked who we
were and we told him of the referral from the states, he said that was their
cousin and that they never heard from her and she had gone off to the states to
the good life while they were left in poverty.
At first he said if his sister wanted to study that was up to her but he
kept coming back in and getting more and more upset and finally asked us to
leave and not come back. Everyone was
somewhat nervous at his obvious anger but nothing happened. As we left the sister cried and told us how
sorry she was for his actions, we all felt very sorry for her. Then we went to Sister Ana for our weekly
visit and again two of her daughters were there and Cesar was very direct in
telling them that we wanted them all to become Christians very soon. Then we went to Bro. Raul and had a short
study because his wife Ana had to go somewhere.
We told her that next week Charlotte and Regina want to begin studies
with her and she said ok. Then Raul
walked with us a long distance across the expensive neighborhood to another
house where we visited with a man and his wife who used to be members but had
started attending Assembly of God in the absence of a church in Juayua. They seemed pretty active and it seems
unlikely they will come back to the church but we may try them a time or two
more. Then we went back to Regina’s for
6:00 class. Regina shared with us that
her daughter, Kenya, who had gone to the beach with us on Sunday had been
having some serious health problems for about 2 months. She showed us an EKG that we understood to
say Kenya may have suffered some form of a heart attack. She is only 18 and we did not know until
now. We prayed together and then began
the class. Raul and his family came
again (that’s 2 weeks in a row) so Charlotte took the kids and Pedrito and had
a class for them. When we finished the
adult class they were still going and I know the kids loved it and it made a
great impression on their parents.
Restaurant where we chose to eat to develop a friendship.
Restaurant is set up in front of their home.
