Clasura (Class Party) This
was our last day for English classes and values classes. First, of course, was Salcoatitan. Charlotte
took a large chocolate cookie with chocolate chips for each student. We also had oval bread with ham inside and
drinks. All of these were for the party
after the class. For a class demonstration
Charlotte had made round balls of cookie dough and given them 4 different
colors by using food coloring. We were
studying food and they were to make a food from each of the 4 main food groups
with each color representing a different group.
Then after making the foods they could eat the dough. The only problem was, even though several
students made some amazing imitations of foods almost none of them wanted to
eat the dough afterwards. We had some
extra so I ate several pieces in front of them and made great expressions of
how delicious they were but to no avail.
We even gave one to Bro. Carlos and he was only able to take little
nibbles. In Salcoatitan there will be a
large group graduation tomorrow and the certificates of completion will be
awarded then so this was just a part to end the classes. The plan was to have each
class for 30 min. and then 30 min at the end for the party. We start at 9 so at 9:30 Carlos sent his
helper over to say 9:40. They finally
ended their first group about 9:50 (5 minutes longer than a regular class) but
we did not give them a recess because of the little party at the end so we
still came out pretty close. We put
everyone together and gave out the refreshments and then had a kind of little
drawing for some small prizes that Ricardo had brought. Everyone had a great time. Then after lunch we had the same classes in
Juayua. While we were still in class we
offered The World Bible School course.
About ten students accepted the booklets. We told them we were moving into the house
across from the school and they could leave the course anytime by knocking on
our door. After class we went out to a
large auditorium area to have more of an official graduation since this was the
only one we were doing for them. We had
a stage and Charlotte and Cesar handed out the certificates as students passed
across the stage. It was amazing how
excited the students were to get their certificates even though the classes
were for only 3 weeks. It all went
great and we were glad to be finished.
After the graduation Charlotte went by to see Eliza and they spent about
2 hrs. working on getting ready for a ladies class in January. She said Eliza had worked hard before the
meeting and had a lot of ideas ready when she got there. I walked on home and then she arrived about
6:30. Leanna was still not feeling well
and had gone to bed early and Christina said she thought she was getting sick
also so she went to bed early. We skyped
a little with Caleb and we went on to bed earlier than we had been because
Charlotte had been up so much and worked so hard the last few days.
