Event in Turin.
This almost seems to be a daily thing….these events! Noé had asked our team to come to Turin. We were all excited to get to help out this
way. What an exciting day. Dwaine and I left about 11 to first go by
Ahuachapán to get some wedding décor for Kelly and Hose’s wedding
tomorrow. I sure was thankful that it
was Christmas time. There were several
nice items, like white holly and silver bells and silver candle holders that
might have otherwise been hard to find.
After we arrived in Ahuachapán Carlos called and asked if we could pick
up Linda, but we had passed Ataco a long time.
She worked out a ride with Ricardo. When we arrived the church was flooded. The lady who cleaned the church in the morning had left the baptistry tap running and it overflowed of course. They swept out the water and it dried quickly. Only one speaker had some damage and it dried quickly and worked fine. The event was great. Linda led
the children in a lot of activities.
Years ago I had brought a parachute and some game day items. We are getting some mileage out these
items! She had over 40 kids. Yoli and I led the ladies and it went
great. They had 43 ladies….18 visitors
and 25 sisters. Everyone was festive and
we had lots of sweet comments on the lessons.
We also had a drawing for some items.
Yoli has some stores and she puts together, bowls of life….filled with
rice, beans, oil, sugar, etc…some staples.
For many, it is an emotional gift because it may the only way they get a
meal for the day. It is moving. Dwaine and some others served tamales and
breads to over 100 people. Afterwards we
headed out with Cesar and picked up Eliza in Ahuachapán who was visiting
family. When we got home, we rested for
about 30 minutes and then decided we had better work on the house and cooking
for the wedding. Dwaine worked on
cleaning and I stayed up to about 2:30 cooking.
Hope this wedding comes together on Wednesday evening. I got the cake finished and made some frosted
sugar cooking with heart design. I was
glad to be done. We are supposed to
start at 8:30, so there will be no extra time tomorrow.
