December 21, 2015

Ladies Day in Juayua.  For Juayua, we decided to have a second ladies’ class for our event because we had such a great response form the first event.  We were ready to head out at 7 and Suleyma, Danielito, Kelly, Nicole and Wendy were all supposed to ride with us.  Suleyma and Kelly were not ready, but Wendy was waiting.  I am amazed at Wendy’s interest.  She is truly searching.  Of course, we are discovering that starting times are hard to fulfill.  We arrived at 7, but the Mayor’s truck with tables and chairs were not there.  They were to arrive at 6:45.  After two calls, we learned that they unexpectedly scheduled a breakfast and all the workers would not be free for some time.  We only had three tables and about 4 benches were at the community center.  An office next to the center opened and even though they were not related to the center, they let us in and let us plug in our coffee.  Some people arrived early, but most were a little after 8:30.  We got serving at close to time, but about the time we ran out of sitting room, the chairs and tables arrived.  We purchased 100 tamales and two people arrived late and we finally ran out for them.  That is a good problem to have.  Yoli and I did the lessons and that went smooth.  Since I had started so late on final power point and organization of my lesson I had stayed up to 3 a.m. finished up and up at 5.  That was a short night, but I think the class went well.  At least many people were kind enough to say so afterwards.  After lessons, we had a drawing for the food bags and a few additional items to help our visitors.  It was a good day.  In the end, we had 27 visitors and probably about 10 children to come.  Many people that we study with received some of the gifts and it is always amazing how much the food supplements are appreciated.  Kelly and Wendy stayed afterwards until we were ready to go, so we got to visit some.  We also got several studies set up with times.  Socorro also came, who broker her arm.  While she won a food basket, she traded with someone who had received a towel.  Her generosity was touching. Another part that was great, was that Regina came.  Dwaine picked her and this was her first time out since her surgery except to going to the doctor.  We got home close to 12 and rested for about an hour afterwards.  Dwaine headed out with Cesar to check on our cable for the move and our phone service as well as to talk to the landlord of the potential house for the church.  We ended the day with a study with Raul and Ana.  Osvaldo and Luzelena joined us for this study.
