Two baptisms!
The morning started with more visitors. Alba and her daughter, Katherine, came
by. We had a ‘Que Dice La Biblia’ laying
around and she said she wanted to study this together. I asked her directly what she was hoping to
learn because we have studied a long time, but she does not want to make any
changes in her life. She will come to
some ladies’ events, but she attends another church. I was happy to set up the study, and I hope
it will convict her to make the changes she desires. I think the bottom line is that her husband
likes the other church. Alba can see the
differences in the doctrine, but cannot break away from the other church with
her husband wanting to attend. So we will keep studying. I think her desire for now, is just to be
more familiar with the Bible. She likes
to learn topics and where things are located, but when we study verses that
warrant changes, she changes the flow of the study with questions that are
unrelated. Keep her in your
prayers. I rested through lunch and we
had told Mario and Sara they could come by about 4 for a study for their son
would get out of school at 5:30. But,
they came about 3 because he was to get out early at 4:30. I fixed a snack. Dwaine was out, but arrived shortly. Since their marriage on Sunday, we knew Mario
wanted to be baptized, but we were a little uncertain about Sara. We talked a bit and they said they both
wanted to be baptized after the evening study.
We sure were excited. The study was
at Regina’s at 6, and at first it looked like it was going to be a small
group. But, people kept coming and we
had a pretty good number of people before too long. All wanted to come to the baptisms, so
afterwards, some walked and some rode to our house. It was a cool night for the rains make it
coolish sometimes. Dwaine had gone to
Salcoatitan to get their pool before the Bible study and he had it ready to go
when people arrived. We had loaned our
pool to Osvaldo for his son’s baptism, and we had not gotten it back yet. We had a wonderful celebration for the
baptism and a good crowd to come. We
even had a few visitors too. We were
especially glad that Celia was able to come a witness these births. By the time we finished, Dwaine ran them home
because she had to leave for work at 4:30 in the morning. It was a great night!
