Arrival!
We left with Cesar shortly after 7 to first go to immigration. We had gotten the call that our papers were
ready and they opened early enough to pick them up before out trip to the
airport. When we arrived, we learned
that Dwaine’s papers arrived, but mine should come in about two weeks. Hopefully that will work out when we take our
children back to the airport to pick them up.
We had one more task to fit in.
On Saturday night, one of my molar teeth broke. By the end of the day, about ¼ of the tooth
was gone. When I was young, I took a lot
of antibiotics with pneumonia, so I am reaping some of those benefits of long
term meds. My high dose of synthroid is
also supposed to affect my teeth. There
is some good news. The tooth was dead
and there was no pain involved. It is
funny that last year when the group came, was when I started the root canal
process that turned into a rough time.
Even though it was rough, I still think the dentist was a good dentist,
so we were trying to call him and see if we could go by and get an opinion or
see if I got left and picked up on the return from the airport, could he fit me
in. I was afraid the rest of the tooth
would crumble. We tried to call, but we
did not get good results. So, we decided
to just go by there. It was an answer to
prayer! He had a cancelation for the
morning and he said he could fit me in and should finish before our time to be
at the airport. Leanna was to be the
first one in and she strongly emphasized that she did not want to have to wait
by herself outside the airport alone!
(We had been about 15 minutes late picking up Clifton.) So, he started the process and twice Dwaine
sent the secretary back to ask how long I would be. He would always say, ‘ya completado…..’
already finished. He did finish in time
with a cap and said I did not need to come back. We had almost exhausted our funds, so we had
little cash. I asked during the visit if
they took credit and they did. However,
in the end it was only $25. We rushed on
to the airport and made it in plenty of time for Leanna. The arrival board said the plane already
arrived, but she came out after we were waiting at the door. Not too long afterwards, the entire group
arrived. Leanna came through Houston on
United, but the group came through Atlanta on Delta. The bus pulled around and we loaded. We drove with Della, Clifton, Leanna and the
two of us. We stopped at McDonald’s,
Wendy’s, China Wok and a chicken place similar to KF on the way home for lunch
while we were still in San Salvador.
Everyone unloaded at our house and got room assignments. The housing worked well with some staying at
our landlord’s directly across the street and some staying at Socorro’s a block
away. We had a meeting with some instructions and dinner at Hotel Vision. This hotel is going to host dinner each
night. We had a good discount if we
ordered 48 plates each night, so that also gave us a time to invited a few
friends along the way too. Of course, it
poured down rain on the walk home! The
construction crew headed on to Ahuachapan to stay as Turin, which is close to
Ahuachapan. We settled in for the night
and planned to start Tuesday at 7:30 for breakfast.
