Saturday Seminar. Fortunately, I had lots of helpers today for
breakfast for it was really involved.
Suleyma made bacon and cheese quesadillas and Xiomara and Emily made
grilled cheese and ham. Arnoldo cut up
items and Regina cut up fruit. We were
all busy, busy! We were to start the
seminar at 9:30, but it was probably 10 when we started. We had lots of helpers for the children and
Allen was prepared for the seminar on marriage.
Come to the Weddings was the overall theme and this was one of the
culminating events. When we planned
this, we were studying with many couples and we were looking to invite
them. Several of the couples have been
baptized and so we had many church members to come. I think all the visitors that we had invited
came. I was excited Briseida and Antonio
came, as well as Celia, Claudia, Sandra and others. It is such a blessing to work in the
community! Allen did a great job working
with Cesar on the translations and the lunch that followed was really
nice. The afternoon was free to shop and
people came and went all afternoon visiting around Juayua. I went out with
Greta, Jim and Della to locate some of their best contacts and get to meet
them. One man didn’t invite us in for
several people were working on sewing machines in his home and he was really
busy. However, he had a pamphlet that the
team had handed out and he had read about half of it. It was marked in red on every line and he had
read many references. We had a lively
conversation and he said we could come back in the week. For one contact of Della, a mother and
daughter lived together. The daughter
had a brain tumor when she was young and the surgery had left her with language
difficulties and balance issues. She had
recently fallen and had her hand wrapped up.
We will continue with these visits.
It was a great idea to make this connection. For the evening, everyone
went to Carbon and Linda for pupusas. We
had many of the translators from the week and some visitors as well. It took a really long time for serving and a
rain storm rolled through, but the fellowship was super!
