We’re off!
There were lots of helpers that came to assist with breakfast. Xiomara, Emily, Kelly and Nicole came to help
and were extremely valuable helping. We
divided into teams and started off door knocking. What a blessing to share our physical and
spiritual families with our dear friends of Juayua. I had wanted to go to the area near the
building so that regular visitors would recognize who was making the
invitation. Clifton took one group and I
went out with another. For me, two
special contacts were made. One lady,
Marlena, was home, but preparing to go to a meeting at school. So, she was in a hurry, but she was invited
us in for a prayer. She came for the
first time for the event in the afternoon.
The second lady, Miriam, came for the gospel meeting. She had come to a few events over time, but
had not been in a while. The exciting
part of this visit, is that Gisela knew her.
Gisela, who is 18, wanted to go out with us visiting. She said she and her family had lived in that
area for quite a long time and she knew Miriam.
Later that night, Xiomara was so excited and wanted to go out visiting
with me to talk to her. When we talked
about this later in the day, we were almost in tears in that she has such a
deep heart for evangelism. This is our
new family and we are truly blessed at their servant hearts and desire to see
the church grow. I had Joanna, Mischaela
and Leanna in our group as well. It was
an additional treat to have Mischaela because we had such a close connection in
the States and in going to Guyana.
Joanna was visiting from New Zealand as she had worked alongside Allen
Wright and Julia Wright in Fiji. I also
had Leanna and what a treat for people to meet our daughter. Each took turns with invitations and it was
great. There were in total, about 10
teams and we were able to go some new areas in Juayua. We also got to visit with Angelia. Seily and I study with Angelia, but she had her baby a few weeks ago and we had not been able to visit with her since then. She was home and invited us in to meet Lucas Mateo. He was so tiny and beautiful! The ladies’ event was great. We had about 20 visitors and all went
smooth. The theme, Come to the Weddings,
was a hit. Yesenia and Ulma had done a lot
of decorating and it added to the theme.
We did a dynamic with the ladies where two ladies made a wedding dress
for another. We laughed and cried it was
so much fun. Della led the lesson and it
was tremendous to have her share her thoughts from Ruth in Spanish. She did a great job and was well received by
everyone. What joy to have her
come. It was a great sacrifice for her
to be away from her daughter and we were blessed by her willingness to do this.
While the ladies were meeting, adults and children helped with the
children. They had prepared skits and
games and they were all excited about that as well. We wrapped up about 5:00 and the gospel
meeting was at 5:30. I taught the
children. We had planned to have the
children in the main room, and the canopy was for the adults. Rain threatened, so we squeezed children into
the classroom and the adults into the main auditorium. Allen did the lesson and we had a roomful. Afterwards, most went to the hotel for
dinner. I came back home with Leanna to
prepare breakfast. A few nights had
casseroles that had to be fixed the night before and this was the first of
those. Of course, it rained again and
people walked home in the rain.
