Sweet
15! Today was an extraordinary day for
Fernanda. We have known this family for
many years and it was a delight to celebrate her 15th birthday
together. I really have no idea how many
people came, but Fernando, Liseth and family cooked lunch for about 200
people. Dwaine I picked up the cake for
them on our way for they had a store in Apaneca to cook a four part cake. We arrived at their house at 10:20 and
followed Fernando to the church building.
The party was much like a service, with singing, prayer and a
speaker. Noe was the speaker and we
understood a little better the significance of turning 15 in El Salvador. It is a time a young lady is considered an
adult transitions into more responsibility.
It was a blessing to be a part of this celebration. We left about 3ish to do some shopping as Ahuachapán
has several stores that we don’t have….fabrics, Dollar City and larger
Selectos. I was excited to find some
gold chocolate coins in a 99 cent store for Sunday’s lesson on the widow’s
mite. They were on the Christmas isle,
so I got enough for 2 cents per child.
We got home about 4 and rested 30 minutes and Dwaine went to Kelly’s to
hand off a drama for Sunday school and by Arnoldo’s to offer a ride. He wasn’t ready and Regina said she would
walk him over about 6. For the first
time since we have lived here, he is going to spend the night. Originally, we were leaving at 5:30 on Sunday
for set up for the arear wide service, but in the end, Dwaine and Arnoldo
scheduled to leave at 6:40 and then pick me up at 7:20. At any rate, Arnoldo was helping me prepare
Sunday school material for Sunday. We
stayed up until 1 and of course, I got back up at 4:30. I was excited to get 5 Bible costumes ready
for an enactment of the Widow’s mite.
Arnoldo got materials ready for crafts.
Short nights….but everything is ready!
Party for Fernanda!
Happy 15th Birthday!
Happy birthday, Fernanda!
