Initiative. Dwaine left at 7:30 to pick up Raul to take
him and his mother to the hospital in Sonsonate. His mother, Rosa, had broken her knee in a
fall some time back and today she was to get her cast off. His mother lives in Apaneca, so it was a
little detour to pick her up. When they arrived in
Sonsonate, the doctor was not there and was not going to arrive until 2 in the
afternoon. While Raul and Rosa decided
to stay on, Dwaine drove back. Kelly and
Nicole were supposed to come at nine, but they were running late and came at
10. We had a good study and Kelly
mentioned she was going to have a wisdom tooth pulled this on Tuesday. Ouch!
So, Dwaine took them home and ran some additional errands. About the time he returned, Douglas knocked
on the door. He stopped by to set up a
study time….initiative! It was during
the lunch hour, so he came on in and we had our study. He had not been able to study last week, so
he was trying to reconnect! That was
great. We studied baptism and it he had
great comments and questions! Dwaine was
due to go back to Sonsonate close to 2:30 and the timing worked good for
picking up Vilma at the bus stop and drop her and me off at Vilma’s. We decided we would stay in that area until
he returned and then we could take both Ulma and Rosa on to Apaneca. Vilma was not home, so we went by Amalia’s
and we studied about Lydia. It was a
good visit and Amalia and Ulma have decided they are distantly related. Next, we were trying to decide if we would go
by Celia or Alba’s and decided on Alba.
On the way we got sidetracked in a good way. Floramarina was sitting outside her home and
we stopped by to talk to her and ask her daughter, Claudia, if she was ready to
study now that school was out. Her mom
immediately took us in and really opened up….initiative. By the time she finished sharing some
struggles and some issues that were very personal, Dwaine arrived. We had a prayer and we think this may have
reopened the door to have her visiting again.
We are deep in prayer about this. Her family are members of the Church
in Izalco and Santa Caterina and we had really been working with their family
when something changed. Hopefully, we
have answered her questions and renewed that interest. Dwaine had gotten Raul and Rosa and so we ran
on up to Apaneca. When we got home we had and
some Skype and study time. Thankfully,
good open doors today.
