Honors!
Today was time to honor Alba and it was a beautiful day to do so. She did not have to work today so we
presented her with her baptism certificate! She brought Jacquelyn with her to service and
it was a blessing to have her in class.
Katheryn, her other daughter, was not able to come, but we were able to
connect with her afterwards. Alba had
wanted us to visit and eat at the restaurant where she is now working. Now this was funny. She talked to her boss and told her that we
were coming. After church, she was
heading home and we asked if she wanted us to pick her up. She was surprised. She was going to send us to her work, but was
not going to go! So, we insisted that we
would pick her up in about 20 minutes and all go together. We were hoping that her husband Marcos would
also go, but he had hurt his foot and so did not go. This will be a long term effort, but we will
hopefully have some opportunities to visit with him too. The restaurant was a Mexican theme and it was
really good. Afterwards we rested some
and then went on to Salcoatitan for their service. We picked up some from Sister Ana’s family,
including Sister Ana and Gloria. We
passed Ana Vilma and Jorge and they said that they had to meet someone. When we returned home, both Carolina and
Jorge met us at our door. Carolina was
in tears due to a threat against her brother.
We have been aware that things have been developing with Carolina’s
family. Her siblings live with their dad
who is an alcoholic and is not able to make his rent. The children are planning to move in with
Sister Ana, but there is very little space.
Carolina’s mom died in December of last year and it has been a journey
for their family. Please keep them in
your prayers.
