Santa Ana
again. We expected that Sulima would get
to go home and that Sister Regina would call sometime after 8. She called a little before 9 and confirmed
that Sulima and Danielito could go home today.
We got to Regina’s about 10. We
made the decision that I would go too, thinking we could be back in time for
our English class at 1:30. We made
pretty good time going to the hospital and even did pretty good finding
it. We stopped and asked about 4ish
people when we were in the area.
Sometimes, you just stop and ask to confirm that you understood the last
person and that the last person you asked actually knew the directions. We made good time and when we arrived they
were working hard on the discharge.
Dwaine decided to go to the little restaurant downstairs to get a
sandwich since we would not have any other opportunity for lunch the rest of
the day. He almost ran out of time, but
it worked out. It was a really hot day
and when Regina carried the baby to the car, she wrapped him tight in a warm,
thick, furry blanket. I was so
worried. On the trip back home they
uncovered him some, but it was hot until we got up in the mountains a bit. Dwaine called his lunch the ‘food of shame’
because he was the only one eating. His
blood sugar gets low and if he had to go til dinner before eating, he would not
have done very well. He finished up, but
late that night he was sick. Yikes! We made it back home and Dwaine dropped me
off to start the English class. He took
the family to Sulima’s about 5-10 minutes away.
Class went great and it seems we have settled in with four students for
now. Carolyn, a visiting friend of
Hector and Rachel, has been using the same material in Apaneca and one or two
students may pick up with us when she finishes soon. Dwaine led the afternoon study for our ‘coffee’
family. Kelly was home with the children
and Hose was working. It was a great
study and Dwaine got about half way through his material. Then we went on to Sister Regina’s for the
Saturday evening study. Dwaine had
written a lesson on Roman’s and he had each person read a section and then
everyone would comment. That went well
too and we had our regular visitor Anita to come along with Sister Rosalidia
and our host family. Regina stayed with
Sulima for the evening. I invited
Pedrito to come home with us and he took me up on the invite. We got home close to 7:30 and ate a big
dinner about 8ish. We visited afterwards
and Lucky and Brenda came in as well. It
was a good evening.
