Charlotte and I are separated!!
We headed back out for San Salvador again this morning at 8:00 and this
time Lucky went with us to help translate.
We had found the map and had the address for the immigration place and
so we thought we were ready. It was good
to have some time to visit with Lucky because she has mostly been going out on
her own since she has been here and we have been continuing to do our things so
by the time everyone gets home at night we are tired and it is bed time. We all got to know each other better on the
round trip. We found the road we needed
to get on but went over it a couple of times before we got on going in the
right direction. When we got to the immigration
building it was the main big one we had gone to once the first time and they
had sent us to the other one so we thought we were in the wrong place. We called Bro. Laura again and he gave us the
number for immigration and we called and they said we were in the right
place. Good thing, because we could not
have found the other one without being late.
Anyway when we got in they took our names and told us to wait. When the man came out he only asked for
Charlotte- we soon found out why. All of
the information he had was just on her and he started doing the same interview
with Charlotte that the lady who came to Ataco had already done with the two of
us. We told him that a lady had already come to our home and done all of this
and that it was supposed to be for the both of us since she had done separate
papers for each of us. He said he would
go back and look at the computer. We
don't know what he did but when he came back out his story was that the lady
sent my papers on up to the next level but only mine. He said he would have to go through the
entire interview process again just with Charlotte-complete with coming back to
Ataco! This means among other things, that
since my papers have been sent on for a couple of weeks by the time Charlotte's
are done we will be separated by about a month!
He kept saying how wonderful it was that we were here to help the people
of El Salvador and also kept quoting scriptures to us to show his Bible
knowledge. He said they wanted to
approve us but that he was concerned about the fact that we bring our money in
cash and they have no proof of how much we really have or how we get it. Last year the letter from Central stating
support for Caleb and Della was enough but apparently not this year. We cannot have a bank account here yet
because we only have temporary visas but to get permanent visas we need to have
a bank account here so the money can be transferred to it and they can see the
trail of the money we get for support.
Well, we said all that is in the Lord's hands. We may hear from my papers most any time if
they are approved or not but for Charlotte's the man has to come next week for
the interviews of 3 local people who know us and proof of our rent paying and
electrical and water receipts. Funny, we
thought we had breezed through the immigration process- well as I always say- I
am only wrong when I think. We ended the
day by going to the Bible study group at Zoila's and had a good visit with all
the people there and a good lesson by Carlos.
One more view of Jupiter and Venus!
