Good doggie. Well, we
decided to let the puppy sleep in a box in our room for the night.
She was very quiet and happy. She also started going out into the
garage for all of her “business”. We thought that was pretty
amazing. We hope to paper train her and keep her inside. She is the
prefect pet when we are home but we don't know how much she cries
when we leave before she settles down. We plan to keep her strictly
inside because we don't want her to have contact with the street
dogs. Charlotte, Caleb and I walked around the town some and Lucky
said the puppy cried quite a bit while we were gone but I hope it was
because she could tell there was still someone in the house. Anyway,
she is fun when we are here and Charlotte named her so I guess she is
a keeper. One very important thing I forgot to mention was that
Charlotte's mouth was less painful yesterday morning and is
continuing to improve. We had lunch at home and then headed over to
Ahuachapan to do a little shopping and to visit Osvaldo and Luzelena
and their boys. We had a good visit and they were very glad to get
to see Caleb. Then we came back by the house and on to the Thursday
night home Bible study. There was a good group and after the study
we went next door to Carlos and Linda's house for dinner. They had
BBQ ribs and they were delicious. We found out that Sister
Rosamiriam's grandson had gotten to come home from the hospital on
Monday. She had asked us about going on the car but at the time we
did not know when the baby would be released. As we understand, the
mother went to San Salvador on the bus, got the baby and brought it
home on the bus. The doctors still are not sure of the extent of the
problems the baby will have but it is at home at least. Caleb has
gotten to spend time with most of the folks he has most wanted to see
and we are enjoying his time here but as expected the time is flying
by.
Well, I typed this day too, so here comes a double version....
Sweet Fellowship. We headed out in the morning with Caleb to visit a few of the people we had contacted while the Franklin group was here. Unfortunately, no one that we visited was home. We were excited to show Caleb a few of our discoveries and contacts around Ataco, and to our dismiss, there is nothing new under the sun. I don’t know why we would think differently, but Caleb had seen and met most everyone that we tried to visit. It was good to walk through Ataco and visit. Caleb came to help us with a few personal fix-ups too. About a month I was working on some graduation pictures and my external hard drive failed. I had everything backed up in the States except the last two years of pictures. Of course that was exactly what I needed. He found a program to recover all my pictures. It looked like it would take an entire day to transfer. The scary part of that if there was a blink in the electricity, it would mean the process would have to start over. To go 24 hours in Ataco without a hiccup in the electricity would be……I can’t find the words…..highly improbable. In times past we got an occasional blink, but since winter has begun, meaning the rainy season, it blinks daily. It did take a day and Caleb caught the last two minutes of downloads. He also immediately backed them up to the new laptop as well. I was so thankful to have all my pictures. After lunch we headed to Osvaldo and Luzelena’s for a visit in Ahuachapan. We was great to see them and we were able to stay for about an hour. We had gone a few minutes early to look for a tape player. That was hilarious. We found the dinosaur and the young man wanted $25 for it. In the end, we offered $18 and he would do it. I had ordered some tapes for a teen girl seminar and they arrived as cassettes. I knew there was some reason they were cheap. Anyway, by the time I added the tape player, it would have been the same price for CD’s. The young man followed us to the car and said his boss had returned and he would take $18 for the tape player. It is right out of the 60’s and even has green, yellow and red lights. At least is also has a flashlight. But, I don’t think we have D batteries. We laughed a long time, thinking we were the only ones in all of El Salvador in need of a cassette tape player. For the evening we went to the Bible study at Carlos and Linda’s home. They had invited us all to stay after the study for dinner. So we stayed for ribs and corn on the cob and other delights. It was a great visit. Caleb and Della and Lucky had been really close with Carlos and Linda and it was a great night of fellowship. We were all exhausted when we got home and headed to bed pretty quick.
