June 24, 2015

Great day!  We set out with a lot to do in Juayua today.  We wanted to continue some of our studies without Cesar, since his family is in the State.  We were going to start with Julia, but she was busy for a few minutes.  So we rounded the corner and Mr. Rivers was standing outside his home.  He invited us in and Dwaine led a good study on Satan’s power in the world.  Mr. Rivers was very attentive and said he would like to also have a flyer for our English classes.  Dwaine promised to bring it by after our study with Julia.  We went by Julia’s and she invited us in. She is a very endearing lady and we are excited that we may call her ‘sister’ one day.  It is amazing to me how God puts people in your lives and then when you think of them, you are overwhelmed with a desire for them to be right with God.  We usually walk to her house, but we drove and parked near her home and mentioned that any time that she wanted to go to the service, we could pick her up.  I led a study on the parable of the seed we visited for a few minutes.  Afterwards, Dwaine headed back to Mr. Rivers, so Julia saw me waiting in the car and she walked out to talk a few minutes.  She wanted me to write down all the times for the services, so I did that for her. We often think that all of Juayua know Sister Regina, so I showed her pictures of Zulemya and Regina with the new baby.  Of course she knew her!  That is great news because we are hopeful that will make her feel more comfortable in visiting.  We told her that when the baby was settled in, we would bring Regina by for a visit.  That was all exciting.  Then, we went to lunch.  That was interesting too.  We are trying to scout out a couple of places the group might eat when they are down.  We had spied a nice place, so we headed in that direction.  What a day to visit!  They were having a birthday party for a lady and she had about 20 to 25 people sitting in a ‘U.’  They had hired live entertainment, a man and lady doing Karaoke.  We mostly were there for the man and he was hilarious.  They songs were funny too!  We were the only other ones in the restaurant besides the party.  We felt a little intrusive.  At the end we asked their hours and explained why.  The man said we could book our party today!  HA!  Looks like we might have live entertainment.  In the end, he said just show up if we were only coming for dinnerJ.  Then we started putting out flyers.  Everyone was agreeable to let us post flyers, including schools.  After a few stops, we went to get Pedrito too so he could walk with us.  We covered all the schools and about two blocks of businesses.  While we were walking, a man came out of a vacant plaza.  We had tried to look into their spaces for the English classes, but could never find anyone.  He invited us in and it was a two story building with store fronts.  At this point we are looking at anything that might work for a rental for a home.  It wouldn’t do, but he took us to another location.  It was funny, because one house they showed us was completely occupied by the property owners.  We walked through her entire home.  Then, alongside we saw a smaller apartment home.  It was just too small.  We are ready to move, but we don’t know of any other locations.  As we were putting out flyers, one man said that he had a nice place, and we were familiar with it.  However, there is a lady who lives there and he had no idea when she would move.  Oh well.  We headed on to Sister Ana’s and had a good visit.  She was surprised that we would come without Cesar, but it was a good study.  In the end, it started raining, so we wrapped up and ran to the car.  The 5:00 study got off to a slow start, but then Anita and Raul and their two children came.  I had planned the children’s class and Dwaine was teaching the adults.  He had started a study on Romans on Saturday and wanted to continue that.  After going a little way, Nelson and his daughter Ruby showed up as visitors.  That was great.  I think Dwaine finished the entire book for he really went long.  (Actually , I am going through the book The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee.  It is one of my all time favorites and it is a study in Romans.  Between Saturday night and last night I covered chapter one.  But I was pretty put out with myself about how late it was, especially when it started raining and looking so stormy while we were still in Selectos) I had taken extra materials for class and it was a good thing!  We still had to go by Selectos to buy a few more things for the teen girl class on Friday night.  I think we are hoping for about 15ish girls and 8ish adults.  I hope everyone will come!  Kenia and Elizabeth said they were coming from Juayua, so I am thankful they will get to meet the teens here in Ataco and Shucutitian.  It looked really stormy when we headed back to Ataco after Selectos, but surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad on the drive back.
