She’s
done!?? Today was our last trip to the
dentist for Charlotte’s tooth problem. We
headed out about 8:00 for her 10:00 appointment. On the way we got a call from Bro. Azucena
that immigration had called him on our behalf and said we needed to come
tomorrow. We told him we would sure like
to go today. We thought we had possibly lost our map of San Salvador because we
could not find it although it was in the car pocket after all. So Charlotte went on in for her appointment
and I walked up the street to see if I could find one. A taxi driver said there might be one at the
Texaco at El Salvador del Mondo. Not too
close by. The lady at Selectos said
maybe at the book store in Metro Centro- not too close either. So I walked back and Charlotte was already in
with the Dentist. She said when she went
in without me they about went crazy about where was I. She was in about an hour again and said it
was different but still hurt quite a bit. To share what happened, I went in and
he started drilling without anesthesia.
I was not surprised at that. I
thought I remembered that from the States because they want to be sure there
is no feeling in the nerve. It is still scary. Anyway, next he continued with a small rod
that he enters into the nerve area to destroy the nerve. That is why I come out with a bruise outside
my cheek and an ‘almost block eye,’ every time. That didn’t last too long on
this visit. Then, came three
x-rays. Since I had many x-rays when I
was young with trigeminal neuralgia, and resulting thyroid cancer, I really don’t
like x-rays to that side of my face, but alas, all total, there has been close
to 8 done. Next, he placed small fillers
in the bone and then, yikes, it was time to cauterize. Four times he used a cauterizing iron where
there was major steam coming out of my mouth.
I sure was afraid to move! I felt
like a fire-breathing dragon! Well, all
said and done…..actually no. One time
when the nurse was using the suction, she dropped the apparatus on the
floor. Of course, she just picked it up
and it went right back into my mouth.
Not funny. My mouth was full of ‘stuff’
so I couldn’t protest. Oh well, that is the
end of the experience. I am so thankful
this it is behind me and I am sure they are too. When I,
Dwaine, got back to the dentist office I called Bro. Azucena and asked if his
son Joseph was home and I asked Joseph if he could meet us somewhere and help
us find immigration and help us translate.
He said he could but then I called brother Laura, the president of the
Churches of Christ in El Salvador and he said he would call and speak to the
man at immigration to see if he needed to go with us. He called back and said they did not need him
but that today was full and that we would have to come at 10:30 on Tuesday. First time to go to San Salvador two days in
a row- oh boy! When Charlotte came out
we went to Wal Mart for a few items and to see if they had a pool for
baptisms. They had only one- it was very
large and cost $175-yikes! So we went to
McDonald’s for lunch where I got a Big Mac Combo-first one here and Charlotte
got sweet bread and gourmet coffee- they have a separate island for selling
this. As we came back through Sonsonate
we found their mall with the larger Selectos and they had one collapsible children’s
pool!! We can’t wait to tell
Natavidad. When we got home Charlotte
went to bed for quite a while- she had taken some pain medicine and it knocked
her out.
Neat coffee from McDonalds!
Quesedilla is a sweet bread here.
